  • A boat pole hook is a versatile tool for docking, retrieving items, pushing off obstacles, and securing lines. While mainly for docking, its multi-functional design makes it useful for various onboard tasks.

  • Choose a boat pole based on your boat’s size and docking needs. A good rule is to match the pole’s length to your boat’s beam. Most recreational boats do well with poles between 6-12 feet, with telescoping options adding flexibility.

I received this pole and it works fantastic. However, the hook is brittle and breaks as easy as a thin potato chip. I need to get a replacement for it, but I can’t find it anywhere.

We are pleased with the quality and predict good durability with this pole. Update: The plastic gripping mechanism on the handle broke in a few months. It was still under warranty, and they replaced it. So far, the new one is working well.

Ordered it for my new pontoon boat and loved it except the very first time using it yesterday I used it to check the depth of the water which was about 5 feet but when I pulledIt up the end piece with the hook popped off and I guess was stuck in the bottom. I tried fishing it up but no luck and because it was dark and the water was very dark I didn’t feel safe diving for it. I was very upset knowing it would pop off that easy. Now I need to know if I can order that replacement part?

this pole extends to approximately 12 feet, much longer than description. when not extended it is over 5 ft. bought it for a friends boat. have not actually used it yet but seems like a good product.

They say this boathook telescopes from 5ft to 8.5 but I think they cut themselves short. There are 2 telescoping extensions out of the main handle. According to my measurements, from the end to the tip of the hook, this goes from 5.5ft closed up, all the way to 11.5 feet full extended. That’s a lot of reach! The handle is sturdy and has 2 foam handholds that make it easy to grip. When you want more distance, you pull out one or both extensions. They have black plastic flip-clamps that are easy to open and close, and hold the pole firmly so it won’t push back in, or let the hook twist, while you’re performing your task.At its shortest length, it’s easy to store in the boat so you can grab it when you need it. If you want to secure it in a simple way, this mountable clip makes it easy B0099GJHGE.

When I first opened this up, I was amazed at how LONG it extends. It has to be about 12 to 15' (not the 8.5' in the description). That being said, it is fairly flexy when fully extended. The overall construction seems very good and the clamps hold the sections tightly. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the removable hook, as there are no other accessories included, and I'm not sure why you'd ever want to remove the hook on the end. The only thing it does is make the hook a bit less secure, since it is only held in place by slipping over the end of the pole. There is a spring-loaded pin in the end of the pole that must be pressed to slide the hook on, then the pin pops out through a hole in the hook end, holding it loosely in place.Overall for the price, this seems like a pretty good and versatile accessory. It stows away fairly small and compact, and yet extends way out to be able to reach something that might have floated away from the boat. We'll see how it holds up to marine conditions, as I will be putting it to use on my offshore fishing boat where it will be continuously exposed to sea water.

Very happy with this telescoping boat hook. Perfect range for docking. Worry a little about the plastic hook - I assume it’s possible to buy a replacement hook.
