These is a set of oil filter removers but not for all cars. These are for unique oil filter caps with 6 point hex on the end. It is usually for new American and European cars that have adapted a plastic housing. I would google search if this is what you need for your car. You can also use some other sets but they mostly go up to 24mm. Higher than that and it may be for tougher purposes like impact sockets and may cost more. This is probably a good economic way of getting one since it comes with a blow up case, properly labeled and uses the usually 3/8 box from your wrench since it does not need a lot of force to remove and replace since it doesn't rely on a lot of pressure to seal and uses o-rings. Most needs 25Nm to a small 3/8 socket wrench and this is all you need or risk breaking the housing. With this information, it is made of chrome vanadium steel which is commonly used for impact use but the manufacturer recommends not to use it for that purpose but I have not tried it but it will work also with non-impact use (if you can find a hex at this size that does not need an impact wrench to remove).

I must confess that these are not quite what I expected, but that's my fault, I didn't read the title and description very well. I thought these were sockets to remove oil filters (like a really big oil filter wrench) but are instead used to remove the oil filter nut. I got even further confused and thought they were to remove the oil pan lugnut but that was wrong too. I finally got under my car yesterday to change the oil and figured it out. My car uses the 32mm socket and it worked like a charm. I had been using a pair of vice grips up until now and have nearly sliced my hand open a few times doing so. This socket was perfectly sized and if I need to work on a friend's car, I'm glad to know that I probably have the right socket for that job as well. I also love the carrying case so I can easily keep them all together. I wanted to take pics of me using trying them out but I had oil all over my hands and didn't want to get it on my phone. Highly recommend, would buy again, maybe as a gift.

It's not often I need more than a 36mm socket for oil filter housings, but every now and then, I get something to come in that's different than our normal. These are not the heaviest sockets available out there, but then again, they don't need to be for their intended purpose. On the other hand, I would like to see a set of these sockets with a 1/2" drive. I've run into some pretty overtorqued housing lids. The larger drive tools would make breaking them loose (operative word: break) a lot easier. I've learned over the years to let the tools do the work and not to hurt myself. The blow bold case that I got, was a bit tight on the latch and was more difficult than it needed to be. A little massaging with a heat gun and that fixed the issue.

This is a great kit for a variety of oil filters. If you have multiple vehicle brands there's a socket that will likely fit your filter. If you have 1 car brand you can probably find an individual socket in store or elsewhere for cheaper. This is great for a diyer or a mechanic just starting out. The sockets appear to be sturdy enough (as long as they aren't abused) to last a while. The stamped sizing on the side means you won't have to worry about etching wearing off. These are made for lower torque applications. I don't know how well the 32mm socket will hold up to an impact removing an axle nut. For the price this is budget friendly kit for a mechanic starting out or a shade tree mechanic doing work on their own vehicles.

If you’re in the market for a set of oil filter plug sockets, this set is definitely worth considering. Right off the bat, the presentation impresses—everything comes neatly organized in a high-quality case that gives you that satisfying "everything has its place" feeling. It’s like getting a tool set that’s already ready to work, without the mess. The sockets themselves are clearly well-machined. They feel sturdy and well-made, and the size markings are nice and clear, so you’re never left guessing which socket you need. They fit precisely, ensuring a good grip and reducing any chance of slipping—especially helpful when you’re working with tight spots. One of the best features is the flank drive design. This means the sockets grip the flats of the fastener rather than the corners, providing better torque and reducing the risk of rounding off the plug’s edges. It's a small but important detail that makes the whole job easier and keeps things running smoothly. However, a quick heads-up: these are oil filter plug sockets, not oil filter sockets. They’re designed specifically for the plugs at the base of the oil filter, which can be a different size or shape than the actual oil filter itself. So while they’re perfect for the oil filter plugs, they won’t work for the actual oil filter—those are different tools entirely. Most people would be aware of this based on the sizes alone, but just a caveat for the less techy out there. In conclusion, this set of sockets is a great investment for anyone needing to work with basically any fasteners in this size with precision and ease. The added flank drive feature is a nice bonus, and the set comes well-packaged and easy to use.

So far, being just metal sockets to turn plastic filter caps, they haven't broken lol.The build on these seem to be tight tolerance, every cap I have used them on so far you have to give a slight wiggle to put it on and there is no play. Don't confuse this with poor quality, this is a good thing, you do not want slop when trying to break loose and remove plastic caps.So far, all have fit as needed, and am glad I have these vs trying to cram a deep well socket in and getting to it.
