These sanding disks are only 2 inches in diameter so they are not built for large jobs. The description does not say what the difference is between the different colours, they just describe the purple as "high density" the blue as "medium density" and the black as "low density". I tested all 3 on different spots of a completely rusted chunk of metal fence post. You cannot see any difference in the pictures and I did not notice any difference in terms of how quickly or completely it removed rust, or any difference in the wear to the disk. All 3 test disks performed about the same (and not in a great way). The small diameter and low speed really holds them back. A 4 inch flap disk or wire wheel on an angle grinder does a much better job. These might be acceptable if you need a small tool to get into a small area, but plan on making slow progress.

I’ve used the KQCXIK quick-change sanding discs for various tasks, and I’m really impressed with their performance. Whether I’m cleaning rust off metal, stripping paint from old wood, or handling tougher jobs like removing hardened putty, these discs deliver great results. The set includes purple (high density), blue (medium density), and black (low density) discs, with the purple ones being my go-to for more aggressive tasks. They don’t clog as quickly as traditional sandpaper, which means less downtime and faster results. For my welding projects, these discs have been a time saver, especially for slag removal and smoothing seams. The quick-change design allows for easy swapping between grits, saving time during projects. The discs hold up well and perform excellently, even in tight spots. While they wear out quicker than I’d like on tougher metals, I appreciate their durability compared to cheaper alternatives. Overall, this sanding disc set is a solid investment for anyone doing detailed work, from welding and rust stripping to paint removal.

I ordered these because I have a lot of old wood to strip of its peeling paint. I have larger pads but have some tight areas that needed smaller, so I got these. They work perfectly for my paint scraping project, but I have also found an additional use not mentioned in the listing. I have had to do quite a bit of soffit repair with Durham's water putty, and that stuff is rock hard. It goes through regular sanding discs like tissue. So I tried one of the purple pads on my hardened putty. It took it off at least as easily as sandpaper and was far more durable. When I calculated that they are roughly 50 cents a pad it seemed a bit pricey, but now that I see how well they work and how well they hold up, I think I got quite a bargain. I just wish I had ordered them sooner.

I gave these grinding wheels a proper test with a rusty piece of metal I found during one of my walks. I have posted pictures of before and after with ten to fifteen minutes of work on one side of the piece. I used a basic corded drill with the round shaft mandrel. The results are excellent. I also have included a picture with a comparison between an unused wheel and the one that I used to clean this piece. For the amount of rust and debris removed, this seems an appropriate level of wear- especially given that these are sold in quantity and intended as consumables like sandpaper, pads or other abrasives. One minor criticism that I have is that these come in three different colors, which likely correspond to different grits, but there are no markings or other indicators that I can see to determine the grit of any given wheel. On the website it says that the purple are high density, the blue are medium density and the black are low density, but it doesn't have any indications in the set itself. Also the set comes with only one screw-in mandrel adapter, so you will want to make sure that you do not misplace it!I am quite pleased with their performance. They do an excellent job of thoroughly cleaning rough surfaces.

When I first got into welding, I thought my main expenses would be the welder itself and maybe some safety gear. I didn’t realize how many peripheral tools would end up in my garage, just to support what happens after the weld. Cleaning up spatter, smoothing seams, polishing edges—there’s a whole ecosystem of equipment for that. The KQCXIK 53-piece diamond quick-change sanding disc set is one of those support tools that turned out to be way more useful than I expected, especially for someone working with a core flux MIG welder and dealing with slag on a regular basis. The kit arrives with a wide range of discs—black, purple, and blue mesh types, each offering a different grit level, and two disc holders for mounting. I attached one to a basic cordless drill and another to a compact driver. From there, I just let the machines do most of the work. The discs lock in quickly and securely with a twist thanks to the roll lock design, which makes swapping between levels of abrasiveness fast and frustration-free. That’s a small detail, but when you're mid-project and your shop’s already covered in dust and fumes, anything that keeps things moving without fiddling around is a win.The black discs are the most aggressive and work great for initial slag removal right after a weld cools down. I’ve used the purple ones when I want to bring down a rough seam a bit more before prepping it for primer or paint. The blue discs are fine enough for a final pass when you just want a smoother finish. This variety is what makes the kit feel complete, even if I tend to burn through the black ones faster due to how heavily I rely on them. The only reason I knocked it down to four stars is that, while these mesh discs hold up better than some cheaper options I’ve used, they still wear out quicker than I’d like when working on tougher or dirtier metals. That’s not a deal-breaker for me—I’d rather have a clean, effective disc that needs replacing than one that just skates uselessly over the surface. Still, if they were just a touch more durable, this would be a five-star kit without hesitation.Overall, this sanding disc set has become a go-to anytime I’m finishing welds, prepping surfaces for paint, or just trying to clean up older rusty hardware. I even used it to prep a rough outdoor bracket for repainting, and it cut through the corrosion with no fuss. In my book, anything that saves me time and effort while doing a better job than hand tools is worth keeping around. This set absolutely earns its keep in my workspace—and if you're doing any welding or restoration work, it’s a pretty solid investment.

If you're specifically looking for mesh stripping disks this is good value. This is a bulk supply of them and not mixed in with other less expensive flat sanding disks to up the number of items in a bundle. All mesh disks Comes with a hex and straight shaft plus quick twist mount.Mesh disks are superior to sanding paper disks in my opinion. As they erode, fresh cutting material is made available. They last much longer than a flat piece of sandpaper. They are rigid but there is some give if you need to conform to a shape as you're sanding. Just one disk goes a long way without having to change it out right away from dulling or getting clogged like sandpaper does. You also have the option to grind on the face or side of the disk depending on what you're trying to clean up.I find this size to be ideal for detailed jobs like stripping rust or removing gasket material. Mounted to the end of a variable drill or hex driver they are very manageable and strip material quickly.Good price / unit. Will keep you topped up with mesh disks for awhile.
