This Five-Star 5th string peg has a high quality traditional worm-gear design. It features a right-angle peg with string post, with a 14:1 gear ratio for smooth and precise tuning.

- Tapered portion of string post measures 0.390" (9.91mm) long
- Outside diameter of string post tapers from 0.384" (9.75mm) to 0.332" (8.43mm)

Installation note:
This tuner requires a 6-degree tapered peghole in the banjo neck. Splines and a small "fin" hold the peg firmly and prevent rotation in the neck. Glue is not necessary in a correctly tapered hole.

Fit perfectly, simple direct replacement and exponentially better than the failing sealed gear, 50 year old, tuner on my favorite banjo. If I need more banjo tuners in the future I'll definitely look to these guys first

I didn't realize there could be different sizes of holes for the peg to slot in to, but I'm going to have to do some work resizing the hole on my banjo to be bigger. I bought this as an upgrade for a straight friction peg tuner, that might be the reason. The old peg was 6.5mm diameter and this one is 9mm diameter.Be sure to pull it out and measure your existing peg so you know if it'll fit.The tuner itself seems very high quality and well-made so 5 stars.

The 5 star tuning peg is great. It is a 14:1 ratio, so tuning the 5th string right on is easy.
