Your cart is empty. This is a well made, heavy faceplate. At 7/16" thick, it is rigid and well balanced. Holes are counter sunk on the back to accept normal wood screws.

I'm replacing a faceplate that cracked while I was turning a large piece. It was a cast piece that came with the lathe (an old Delta 12"). A cracked faceplate while you're turning a 10" dia. 20" long log is kinda scary. This new faceplate looks to be indestructible, which is exactly what I'm looking for. I expect it to last a lifetime.

I like this face plate it is 6 inch across and plenty strong enough with enough drilled holes to anchor your wood very well. The thread is 1x8 TPI and it screws on my lathe just fine without problems, there are 2 set screws with Allen heads that you can tighten down so you can reverse your lathe if you chose. The face plate comes with an Allen wrench to tighten down said set screws. The face plate is covered in a non rust petroleum type product that I removed with some degreaser without water, It simply wiped clean. I anticipate that this plate will rust if not oiled from time to time but, most will unless they are made from stainless steel. I installed this plate empty and turned the lathe on and it ran very very true with no high spots. I have read in other reviews that this plate came with scratches and banged up well, if that concerns you drop on over and buy yourself a highly polished version for 60 or 70 bucks it'll look real nice and do the exact same job. I also read that the drill holes where a little bit sharp, and mine where too just a little bit, a quick swirl of some sandpaper and that wasn't an issue anymore. I don't plan on putting my fingers in the screw holes real frequently. My take away is if you are in need of a face plate and don't mind a few scratches and like to save some money then this is the one for you. If you are looking for a shinny face plate and like to have the best of the best of the best then go straight to a wood working/ lathe tool web site and buy what you want, it's that simple. I like this one it works well for me, and yes I would purchase it again.

This faceplate will function just fine. It seated properly and has no runout. It arrived covered in machine oil, as most machined products do to prevent corrosion. It arrived with a lot of small scratches on the front and back, like it had been chucked in a bin of 500 of them between the manufacturing and packaging process. The scratches don’t really matter as far as functionality, and it will be in a working shop and receive many more dings in use. One final nitpick, the holes drilled for screws weren’t sharp, but they had a bit of a burr on the edges. Not quite enough to cut yourself on, but not a nice feeling on the hands. It is nice that it includes a hex key and set screws for when you have to run in reverse.Overall, I am glad that I got this, and I would definitely recommend purchasing one if you need the functionality. This will get it done.

Been wanting to do more bowls on my lathe, so thought I'd check this one out. First impressions, this is a thick, heavy duty mounting plate. Very thick metal and as far as I can see, it spins true. No scientific proof, just from the eye. Comes with a little factory oil, but that was easy to clean off with a couple paper towels. This spins on to my Delta midi lathe perfectly with no issues. Fit just as it should. I how it has so many mounting screw holes, making it more versatile. I also appreciate it has two locking grub screws, though I wish they were a little bigger. Although, that be the biggest they could go.Only criticism is that, as another reviewer mentioned, there are a ton of light small scratches. It could have been from the loose wrench they include, it just floats in the bag with the plate. Either way, it's not the best. Does not affect the product, just a smaller bummer to get something new with scratches on it. I am suppose to do that.It is a good plate, good price, if you are okay with possible tiny scratches, would recommend.

The machining on this was really good and true. All threads are good and sharp and the holes are symmetric. It's a lot heavier than I expected which I think will last a long time.

This is easily the heaviest lathe faceplate I've ever seen.If you have a large bowl blank, this is the face plate you want to use. It has more than enough holes to secure the block.I can't recommthis item enough. This item is the best!

I have an old craftsman lathe and was hoping this would work. It fit perfectly. Feels well made has a set screw to keep it from backing off during operation. If it doesn’t hold up I will update this review but I think it should last a long time.
