Using the AC power supply, I place this EQ between the TV and soundbar to boost spoken word frequencies that often were muddled. This has greatly enhanced the viewing experience. I no longer ask "what did they say?"

Build quality on this is pretty questionable, but hey look at that price. I have not noticed any issues with the sound quality being altered unexpectedly, and it served it's purpose well by allowing me to reduce the bass and sub bass going to my speakers. I'm going right from an eARC audio extractor to two self amplified speakers (studio monitors) and the TV does not allow for equalization on its digital outputs, so this was my only option outside of buying a large receiver unit.I will update this review if the unit does not last but for now it's a good purchase if you need some simple EQ.

I have hearing loss in certain frequencies, particularly higher and speech zone... and this corrected them. Watching movies becomes so much better now, using headphones.

I’m using this between my Echo and my Aiyima amp for my outdoor Polk Atrium speakers and it’s perfect. No noise, no static and plenty of adjustability to dial my speakers in right where I like em!

Provides more volume than the computer alone, plus the equalizer is a tremendous help for those of us with high end hearing loss.

equalizer works but sound adjustment and sound quality is fair too much static when turning the knobs.

To start with, my need for an audio equalizer is to improve the voice fidelity of my large TV which has an expensive speaker system with subwoofer, but no fine controls for adjusting the frequency shape to correct for my loss of hearing in my aging years. For this job I don't need front-to-back car fader controls or separate subwoofer controls...I just need a convenient means to adjust the frequency shape to pump up the upper frequencies important to speech recognition, and perhaps attenuate excessive base that might complete with speech recognition. The EQ-7 7-band audio equalizer appeared to meet all my needs, but was highly questionable in terms of its lack of positive reviews, and its 2x higher price on Amazon compared to that at other stores. I went ahead and bought the unit, as it was the best match to my needs...and knowing that I could easily return it if it was as bad as some reviewers suggested.I'm an engineer with modest electronic testing capability, so the first thing I did was hook it up with my oscilloscope so I could see its output wave shapes and run FFT analyses for a quick look at harmonic distortion. I drove the unit with a low-distortion wide-band audio frequency generator. I powered it with just a small 6V 1A plug-in power supply (size of a typical cell phone charger).ELECTRONIC TESTING CONCLUSIONSWhat a surprise!** Totally flat frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with the seven knobs in their nominal centered positions.** Very low distortion throughout the full frequency range. More than adequate for use with television audio broadcasts. Far superior to TV built-in speakers.** Good enhancement/reduction range (on the order of 12 dB gain and suppression capability in its seven bands).** The unit lacks a left-right balance control and provides the same gain/boost to both left and right speakers. The left and right channels are fairly well matched in amplitude (within 0.5 dB)** The only QA problem was that 15 kHz adjustment control for the Right channel on my unit was dead; the Left 15 kHz channel control worked, as did all the other channels. The failed channel puts out the signal, it's just not adjustable. I can't hear the 15 kHz anyway, so this was not an issue for my application, but I knocked off one star for that.** The unit's volume control has an exceeding wide range and worked very well with no obvious distortion issues. In the bench testing, the unit looked very good for my application!TELEVISION TESTING CONCLUSIONSFor this, the unit was plugged in between my TV's audio output and my speaker amplifier's audio input using the units RCA jacks. I then listened to several different programs, including some streamed programs where I find it particularly difficult to understand the speech. For my smaller TV's I use the ZVOX AccuVoice AV100 Compact TV Soundbar Speaker with 6 levels of voice boost. The AV100 works very well for my needs, so my attempt with the EQ-7 was to duplicate the excellent audio enhancement of the ZVOX AV100 with my large TV setup. Bottom line, the EQ-7 worked like a champ and corrected the speech just as desired.I'll probably buy another EQ-7 for use with my computer speakers, which have trouble with the poor frequency response of some of my Zoom calls. Highly recommended!

This equalizer does a decent job. It's not a multi band EQ with lots of bands, but it works really well with seven bands. It does not come with a power supply, just a USB cord. It will run on USB power or an adapter (also not included) up to 12 volts. It has a 3.5mm line input and headphone output on the front, and RCA style inputs and outputs on the back, so it's versatile. It pumps out clean audio. And it's a nice step up from device software equalizers and single slider tone adjusters. I find it ironic that the listing promotes it as having "high bass adjustment" -- which seems to be saying you can crank up the bass -- but I bought it mainly so I could reduce the bass in bass-heavy headphones. And it works fine for that. And it will probably crank the bass up too, if that's what you're looking for.
