It works to adjust each frequency. Quality is definitely lacking. I am thankful for the free shipping and returns as I had to replace my first one. The sound quality is low, but for $30 it works

Powers up and changed the sound, but the god awful noises that this thing is putting is terrible. Maybe the headphone portion works better idk, I bought it for my house stereo. It's a no go for me .

One of the knobs is so tight it can't be turned, and this piece of junk changes the volume level on it's own at random (no hands)! In the dictionary, next to the word "junk" there is a little picture of this thing. The picture says a thousand words.

Firstly, my experience was ruined by recieving my unit with issues. The right channel played no sound. It didn't help that the unit doesn't include RCA cables. I tested with my known-good cables and sound only comes out of one speaker. I had to inspect the circuit to find and solder the issue. Very bad quality assurance and a customer should NOT be expected to repair it.Because I was able to fix it, I can also note the sound quality. For reference, I'd consider myself a speaker audiophile. These are fine for lower to lower-mid frequency songs. The deeper instruments are well adjusted with this EQ, things like wind and piano is reproduced well. The issues are in the upper frequencies. You will hear a faint hissing, not as noticable when idle, but for songs with vocals, you'll hear it at quieter parts. It's possible to cut these hisses out with the dials, but significantly deteriorates the vocals.I've tried different power sources and sadly the hissing doesn't go away. Likely a flaw of them choosing a DC/DC power supply to save costs. It also has no inrush current protection, making a very loud POP whenever you turn it on.On the positive, the housing is solid, built with metal to shield the circuit from stray radio. These may be better suited for headphone users, if you consider yourself an audiophile though these won't cut it for speakers.

Although this equalizer seems to be prone to introducing static and hissing depending on how clean your output is, overall it's been a joy for me to use, and it's been a lot of fun using it to tune my audio for games and various genres of music. When tuned right, it makes a HUGE difference, and games I've played hundreds of times feel completely now to me, as if my Sony XM5 headphones are a surround-sound system.I've done tuning before via my various headphones' phone apps, but they generally only have 3- or 5-band granularity, and require connecting to my phone via BlueTooth, which messes with my setup because most of my headphones have a 2-device limit - not to mention BlueTooth is just plain-out fiddly a lot of the time too, and who knows how the BlueTooth codec can subtley butcher my audio too. Same goes with tuning my audio system-wide on Windows, since it's annoying alt+tabbing when I just want to enjoy my game.So this thing is a boon for me, because I can just tweak the physical dials and get right back to what I'm doing. Been using it for tweaking Halo: Reach and Halo 4, which for me has been notorious for having terrible audio mixing:• I turned down the 400Hz range to 0 to remove the overwhelmingly boomy and muddy ambient noise in these games, which instantly cleaned up all the other ranges and made the music and sound-effects much clearer. (Turning down 150Hz range very slightly helps too).• Turned 60Hz bass to about 85%, because it gives everything more punch without causing muddiness.• Turned the 15KHz treble to max, to make the gunfire crisp and satisfying and to stand out against the rest of the soundscape (and cranked 6.5KHz range slightly to accentuate this too).Muh precious Halo now feels like a COMPLETELY different game now, instead of just a flat wall of mud - it's so crispy and yet has just the right amount of headphone-shaking boom! But are there any caveats? Yes. As mentioned, this thing is REALLY sensitive to unclean audio signals: On my laptop it's fine, but using the front- or rear-panels of my main PC introduces a very high amount of static and hiss, and can only be drowned out at very high volumes. I can only assume this EQ is at fault because when I hook up my headphones to the same headphones jacks directly, there's zero static and hiss and it sounds exactly like I'd expect. I'm aware this could be a problem with my equipment/case/motherboard, but just thought you should be aware. So overall, as a beginner audio dabbler, I am still a fan of thing. However just make sure you search Amazon for "7 Band Sound Equalizer" first, because there's a LOT of carbon-copy clones of this product, and I've seen other listings go for as low as $10 or $20 CAD.

Used the equalizer to improve the way I wanted various headphones to sound. Satisfied with the results.

I used this to amplify an old 80's juke box phono turntable. Worked as stated and allowed me to adjust the sound to a much more useable tone than without. Worked like a charm.
