-- Overall im really very pleased with the quality and performance of this soldering station, really like it over all and it looks great too - as a friend commented it looks a bit like another popular more expensive (W) brand that costs more than twice what this one did. The build quality is very solid for this price range, large power transformer inside gives it (noticeable) weight, it does not look or feel cheap or low quality - it comes with a decent iron stand which fits the iron well and theres also a sponge as well as a (real brass) mesh ball in a container included for those who dont prefer the sponge. My only negatives are shared with other import units, the wall cord is not removable and the iron cord could be a foot or so longer but its not a problem just my opinion - myself I had a time figuring out how to use the buttons to calibrate the temp but once I did it was fine - you may not have to do this and my advice is to just use the regular temp settings unless you have need to calibrate - you likely will not need to, I was just trying to get it a bit closer. All buttons, switches and iron cord attachment are of good quality and I really like the power switch being on the front panel. Iron heats up reasonably fast, about 20 - 25 seconds max with plenty of heat available, though I found adding higher quality tips noticeably improved the heating even more, I tried a new tip from H**ko which was just a hair too long for it to tighten up adequately - but with a very minor mod to (ever so slightly) shorten the sleeve it fit perfect and the extra mass and higher quality plating of this more expensive tip really added noticeably to the already good performance, but be careful if you arent sure what your doing with this mod it could make the heater fit too tight and damage it, so I cant recommend that you do this to your brand new iron unless you have full knowledge of such things. This iron offers very good value, build quality and performance for the money are admirable and its one of the best stations in this price range - in my case im very pleased with my purchase.

I've used soldering irons since the early '70s although infrequently for my hobbies. I've always used a simple plug-in iron and they've worked but it took too long to heat up and had no control. My soldering is fairly simple throwing together a half dozen kits and now mainly for lighting plastic models. I finally got tired of the time and also the basic iron and picked one of these up. What a difference, it makes soldering easier and much more fun, highly recommended.

This is my first station, I have used cheap pin solders all my life . I just tried my machine out and I am very pleased. Reminds me of when I switched from a pouland to a Stihl chainsaw. Good accessories and I am impressed on how secure the handheld piece fits in the holder. Very Pleased

I bought this at the same time I attempted to repair a faulty base station control for an ancient soldering iron I bought at Fry's so many years ago -- and succeeded doing, BTW! So far I've just opened and gave a cursory checkout, which was impressive (relatively speaking). Well packaged, decent manual, seems well built. Soldering iron cord itself is longish and flexible - my ancient iron's cord was anything but! On the downside, my old iron could be directly plugged into an AC outlet to run at full power. This one has a proprietary plug and so is unusable if the base station breaks. Just something to be aware of. The base station is hefty, also good. A few goodies included, like solder, wick, extra tips, even some decent tweezers. If it doesn't break, I would say the execution and value is quite good. Time will tell. I don't care for the temperature control interface, but it is what it is. I didn't fully appreciate the simplicity of an old-fashioned analog control knob until I had to start pushing a button for every degree change. Sigh. Hopefully there are only a couple temperature settings I ever care enough about to bother with.

So far my 75W Soldering Station, LAKIX Digital Soldering Iron Kit has been working fine, unlike the last 2 bacon90 soldering stations I ordered and had to return because of H-E errors. It heats up fairly quickly, not as fast as the display indicates, that is just the temp Setpoint ramping up.I checked the tip temp with a fast response Omega digital temp meter, it was only 2-3 deg F off.My only complaint which another user also noted is the LED display isn’t that bright. If you have a lot of light shining on the LED display it’s hard to read. Just hold your hand above the display if you need to read it. After the warranty runs out I’ll open it up and see if I can make it brighter by changing some resistors.
