Part kit basically rebuilt the main drive. Easily done unless like mine its stuck with the ram down. Then one must cut the side mounting screws

If your trash compactor makes a horrible noise and stops working, it is 90% sure that this nylon gear has broken. The same little guy in China makes all appliances, so the chance that this part will fit is another 90%. Pull your compactor out, turn it onto its top, unscrew the bottom plate, and you are there. All you need is a nut driver, pliers, and maybe a flat screwdriver to pry the old gear off, and you're done. If you are the least tentative about the job, go to YouTube, and you will easily find a video. When I bought my compactor, it was $600.00. Now, try to find one, and you will see that no one stocks them, and the price has doubled. Thank goodness for this $80.00 kit.

I bought this for my Kitchen Aid trash compactor. The drives fits well on my model KUCC151T. The noise is much less and the drives are working smoothly. Material looks strong and very similar to the original one that i replaced. Overall saved me a ton of money that would have cost me either professionally getting fixed or replacing the trash compactor.

I only needed the large gear and changed that out. Brought my over 10 year old unit to life and saved me money. Hopefully it lasts another 10

So your great 14+ year old makes a grinding noise one day and you hear the motor just running and not shutting off. You can shut it off with the knob, turn it back on with the knob and the motor just runs. More than likely your main plastic gear or spindle gear has broken up on you. As typical with parts like this they are great for a long time but do get brittle with age. Pull the unit out, flip it on it's side, and take out screws holding the bottom plate. You will see that at least one of the parts shown in this kit have broken. Get on Youtube, watch a video or two on replacement. Trust me it's a DIY level one rebuild. Will take you 30 minutes at most. Will save you several hundred dollars on a service call or worse $1000 to $2000 on a new unit.

Well we again have had to replace these parts! We are very careful adults (only 2 of us in our home) and are cautious of what we put in our unit (had it for 18+ years) but the 'plastic small neck unit' that rides above the wheel keeps losing teeth, thus causing the unit to SCREECH and not work properly, then we know the piece must be replaced! This 'plastic' should stand up better, what is that about????!!!!Needless to say, here we go again, as the entire compactor is far too expensive to replace or believe me we would!
