These wire wheels work great with my Milwaukee grinder, it's very powerful to remove paints and dusts from any metal surface and polish really good. Giving its price, it's pretty disposable disc wheels, it's always good to have a couple of backups in the tool box in any cases.

I have some old foundations with years of paint on them that needed some good cleaning before I could refinish them. These were just what I needed, and with a 7 pack, I had more than enough for the entire job

The wire wheel brushes I received are very beefy and heavy gauge through and through. They have extreme cupping, which could be good or bad (I don't know enough about wire wheels to have an opinion). They screwed onto my 120V AC powered DeWalt grinder without a problem, but would not fit with the safety shield installed.Nevertheless, I wanted to give these a try so I found an old metal shelf bracket with pitted rusting and some old paint on one side that bled onto the edges of the unpainted rusted side, so I figured this would be the perfect test for this wire brush.I achieved a certain level of success removing the paint and rust in some areas, but it seems to me that it took more effort than I think it should have to achieve the results I did.The photos show the bracket I tested on. I focused my efforts on cleaning up the left half of the bracket, to leave the right side untouched for comparison. As you can see, I did not reach bare metal for the most part. This was about a minute of wire brush use at 11,000 RPM (the tool is rated for 12,000 RPM). I was hoping to achieve greater success, but as I expected when I first looked at the rounded folded wires on the ends of these brushes, most of the energy that went into the brush simply rolled over the surface of the workpiece. Rather than scouring the surface, the wires did a better job of polishing the rusted surface.Over the course of the minute or two minutes that I used this wire brush, it managed to throw a couple if wires out, one of which struck my hand and left a small puncture/cut in my pinky finger. (I should have been wearing gloves). In conclusion, I think these wire wheels would be more effective if they weren't rounded at the ends (see closeup photo). I suppose the metalworking folks out there could solve this problem by cutting off the rounded ends of the brush, but honestly, that seems like more work than I am interested in doing. The brush is very aggressive on wood (see photo) but leaves scoring because only the few wires that actually manage to poke out are doing the work, thus you don't get the smoother finish that you would if all the wires were cutting into the materials and averaging out the cut into the surface of the workpiece. It's a shame that these have rounded bristles on the end and have proven to be not as useful as they should be. I would have liked to use them to prep a broken steel fence that needs repair, and also for an old rusty shed that needs painting. But I doubt these will serve this purpose.

We ordered these to help out our college student's welding endeavors. As they work towards getting their associates in welding, these wire wheel brushes were not only required supplies for the class, but the ability to get seven at this price means that she will have enough, potentially for the entire duration of her first year at school. They fit perfectly on our angle grinder and they are extremely well made. They make quick work, even of some of the sturdier metals she is working with.We will order another pack as soon as she has worn these out. They are a fantastic investment for at the price.

First, the most obvious point to make is this is a good deal for 7 discs, though they display 8 discs on the product page. In fact, in the product title, it says there are 7 pieces, but then at the end has an 8 in parentheses. They have a slight cup to them, but it's pretty shallow. It's also a little misleading, because the title says it's for a 4.5" grinder, but then in the description calls them out as 4" wheels. Well yes, they work fine in a 4.5" grinder, but you have to read carefully to find out that they're 4" wheels. (Actually, 3.93" according to them). They're good wheels though, as durable as you'd expect them to be. I thought about penalizing them another star for the misleading or unclear description, but decided to just rate the product itself for what it was. If you know they're 4" wheels, I'd give them a shot, they're fine.

These are very stiff coils which would be good for cleaning up materials with a stubborn coating of paint or whatever. I didn't try it on metal with mill scale, but has no issue with rust. So if you are looking for something beefy this will fit the bill.

This the first wire brush I've used in this shape. It's kind of a halfway point between a cup brush and a flat brush. It's aggressive like a flat brush but is easier to use on something flat. My only complaint was that they seem to throw wires more frequently than other brushes that I've used.

These wire wheels have a definite cup which is more pronounced than the description led me to expect. Since the time that I ordered, there have been some changes to the description and photos. However, the photos are still heavily, and sometimes nonsensically, manipulated. The end result is that they do not give a clear indication of what the product is really like. The action photos have an image of this wire wheel superimposed on shots of grinders doing different activities that require different wheels and could not be accomplished with this tool. One suggests using these wire wheels for "polishing wood". The results would definitely be unsatisfactory. When used for the normal range of wire wheel/cup applications, these work fine. They make short work of rust and seem to last well. I've put hours on my first one and it still hasn't started to show any real signs of wear.
