Only ONE of these actually worked. I was past my return date, so have to keep them, unfortunately. At least one works, but super disappointed in these!!

This kit comes with exactly two temperature controllers for my two laboratory heating devices. The setup and wiring were very easy, and it only displays in Fahrenheit units. The accuracy meets my expectations, and the price is reasonable. It should be able to meet my needs for a long time.

Set up is easy, and they are almost spot on accurate after testing with calibration equipment. If power wires feed into a (diy) standard receptacle, you can use these to auto control any type of plug-in heating or cooling devices that you may have at home already.

These are functional temperature controllers and the display was accurate within a degree or so when I checked it against my kitchen digital thermometer. I think they are a very good value, especially if you are using with a lighter load like a seedling mat or controlling a heating pad to proof bread dough or something like that. When I saw these, I thought they might be useful in controlling a couple of radiant heaters we use to keep the dogs warm in our garage in the winter. These are poultry brooder heaters and use about 600 watts each. We live in East Texas and winter isn’t consistently cold enough to need these heaters on all the time. My plan is to put the temperature sensor in a spot under the heater and work out what setting will provide comfort without having both heaters on constantly.I tested one this morning. They come with clamp type wiring connections and I hooked up a cord with male plug and a cord with a female receptacle. I used an electric kettle about half full of water and put the temp sensor in it. I set the “On” temperature to 150 F and the “Off” to 160 F. The kettle heated to 160 and shut off. The temperature continued to rise for a degree or two. Several minutes later it dropped to 150 and came back on. I let it run through a few cycles and it was very repeatable. The water in the kettle started at about 78 degrees, so the first “On” cycle lasted several minutes. The wires from the controller got pretty hot to the touch, but not hot enough to burn you. The controller did not get particularly hot. During the much shorter cycles where the temperature increase was only 10 degrees or so, neither the wires or the controller got noticeably warmer. The kettle is rated at 1500 watts, which is the upper limit for the controller. I think operating at 1500 watts is safe, but I don’t like wires getting hot, so operating the brooder heaters at 600 watts should be no problem. If I was going to use this to hold a temperature in an electric skillet or roaster, I would probably think about using a relay and heavier wiring, or at least plug the load directly into the wall to get it up to temperature and then plug into the controller to maintain.

I used this to modify a simple yogurt maker that didn't have any fine temperature control. I've added a thermocontroller to my dehydrator before, and if you can't afford a nice-looking inkbird this is a great alternative.I didn't have any difficulty setting this up, although the instructions for changing modes between heating/cooling is confusing. The temperature measurement is accurate, measured against my digital kitchen thermometer (which admittedly I have not tested but have decided to trust anyway).

The relay is 7A@125VAC and 5A@250VAC - neither of which is 1500W.With the 12ga stranded wires, and a safety margin, I'd rate it at maybe 600W.The one I inspected has an "iffy" solder joint on the Line (red) input -not good, but easy to fix. I DO recommend checking what you get.Note the temperature sensor cable is ONLY 3 FEET long. That's not as long as you think it is when installing stuff like this. The good news is, nothing stops you from extending it (may throw off calibration a little). That being said, if your need is within the above range, and you inspect it before running house current through it, this is a nice little unit, or at least a good "kit of parts".The circuit board matches Ian G. Jefferson's review, it is NOT the one shown in the item pics.It is a decent looking board, and operation is straightforward.Again, I urge you to inspect and test it before use.AND check the switched device's wattage rating!
