I have an acoustic guitar that I wanted to be able to plug into my computer to record with. This pickup is actually better than I expected. It's got some built-in effects and stuff, which is neat, but not really what I was after. The sound quality is pretty darned impressive, though, so I'm very happy. It was simple enough to attach and seems like they actually took care to build this so it won't just immediately damage your guitar - I appreciate that.

Pros:The pickup is easy to install, fitting neatly in the soundhole of your acoustic guitar. It connects swiftly to your device via Bluetooth, making it a convenient and wireless solution for amplifying your guitar's sound. The quality of sound it produces is impressive, with the reverb, chorus, and delay effects providing a rich, full-bodied tone. The device is rechargeable, eliminating the need for disposable batteries and making it a more environmentally friendly choice.Cons:While the pickup delivers excellent sound quality, it could benefit from a more comprehensive user manual. Some users may find it challenging to navigate through the various effects and settings without clear instructions. Additionally, the magnetic attachment may not work as effectively on guitars with thicker soundboards, which could limit its usability for some musicians.

I have been checking out some other options like this, particularly the ToneWood Amp for some time. I never bought one of those because of the expense, but I liked the idea of having effects on an acoustic guitar, because that is the kind of sound I like to hear, and that's a reason I rarely end up playing the acoustic guitar. This is a less expensive version, so there are fewer effects, but the ones that are here are good choices. It is relatively easy to install. I like that you can use it non-destructively, and just run a cable out the front of the guitar. That is what I have done so far to check it out, but I will eventually get out a drill to install it permanently once I decide if I want to keep it in the guitar it is currently in or one of the others. I have used it primarily as a means to add effects while playing an acoustic without plugging it in, but it is a fairly full-featured pickup, as well, including both a magnetic pickup and a microphone. That means it won't work as well on a nylon-string guitar as on a steel-string guitar. When I first opened the package (and it comes nicely packaged), I despaired of my ability to fit it into my guitars, because it is considerably larger than my sound hole at its widest. That is by design, though. You have to put it sideways a bit, and it clamps against the fretboard nicely (though the wires do get a bit in the way of it going all the way there). It flares out so that the dials are all under the sound hole once installed. The rest is just a matter of sticking a transducer to the back of your guitar and running the jack through the endpin. The kit also includes a bracket to mount the jack underneath your existing endpin (and I believe you could just leave it disconnected if you only cared to use the effects unplugged). It also includes all of the adhesives and a couple of brackets to tidy up the cables inside of your guitar, though if you want to install it on a different guitar, you would need to acquire more. The effects take a little bit of trying out to get what you want. The chorus and delay are on the same dial (half is chorus, then the other half delay), and the range of the knob seems to adjust the speed and depth of the chorus, and then mostly the speed of the delay. You control level with the volume control. The reverb dial controls just the amount of reverb. It took some learning, but I was able to dial in the delay settings I like, and a fun vibey reverb-washed chorus sound that I enjoyed. There is no means of saving those, so you will have to either find one setting you like and park on it, or change it every time, but it is still nice to have options. The remaining sound hole knob is for microphone level to blend it with the magnetic pickup. It is USB-C rechargeable, but like a lot of electronics these days, only comes with the wire, not the brick, but it is at least a long wire, since you will most likely be charging it inside the guitar.Overall, I am quite satisfied with the effects I got from this pickup. It was relatively easy to install, and is a fun and easy way to add a pickup to a solely acoustic guitar, or an interesting way to add effects while playing unplugged. In my case, it will also be a way to add magnetic and microphone sounds to the piezo sounds already on my guitar in a stereo setup, as well.

This is the Yelp 2, an updated version of the Yelp 1. The beauty of it is that you have two installation options. One of them does not affect the integrity of your guitar at all, but rather has the wire feeding your amp on the outside of the guitar. The other method is to drill through the strap buttonhole on the back. Adding reverb and delay is a big plus. The built-in microphone that you stick on the inside of the guitar is designed to be ideally placed between the first and second rib. There is a tiny output speaker built into it that is not going to give you a lot of sound. Then plug into an acoustic amp, pa speaker, or guitar amp option is the best. It runs off of a large battery built into the pickup. The controls are easy access with simple dial rollers. The whole pickup assembly mounts into your sound hole and where it mounts to the guitar surface is protected with two rubberized pads so as to not mar the surface of your guitar. Charging the battery is done via a USB-C cable using the standard 5V etc. It does pick up the guitar sound via a microphone you attach to the inside of the guitar via a sticky, as well as the magnetic rather larger plate that is the top of the pickup. Having dual input is a plus when it comes to rounding out your sound. Overall, an intriguing approach.

I played around with guitars since I was 12y/o but never seriously. As a gift, my father gave me a very nice Martin. Seeing an inexpensive pickup to mount without harming the guitar was what I wanted. You can either drill a hole in the body to pass the plug in patch cord, but not for me. I don't like the line running out, but not going to compromise this guitar. It has a couple of features, including Reverb and Chorus/Delay. They do certainly change the sound, but I am not sure I notice a difference between the Chorus and Delay when rolling the dial to either. This is unlikely to impress a professional or even a competent guitarist, but its nice to plug in and play through a practice amp for some volume. There is a rechargeable battery that you have to remember may come on unless you disable the auto-On feature. If not, the battery may be dead when you reach for it.Overall, it's not a bad pick up if you keep your expectations in line with the cost. This isn't going to make you a better player or replace a rack full of pedals, but will give some acoustic tunes more body.
