I found while using these that the collars will start to slip when they slam into whatever you're trying to drill through the stop will spin and you will end up drilling deeper than anticipated. Maybe you should change to a metal insert so that it will grab hotter instead of the plastic

The aluminum collar is fairly easy to use. It does not screw and unscrew very smoothly though. Needs lube, but works very well. I really like that I no longer have to find the hex key and then try to unscrew the half stripped set screw to move my collar. It is a bit bulkier than a collar, but it is every bit as lite and easier to use and adjust. So far so good.
