This is a good kit for beginners. I see amigurumi kits being sold as for beginners ages 8-12 which is utter garbage. This is much better for beginners, because you only need to learn about three stitches and then you have repeat them ad nauseum to get to the end of the afghan. This is good for the very important reason that getting good at crochet or even knitting requires training your muscles, and once you have that muscle memory, it goes from very difficult to a great reliever of stress.A simple project like this allows you to have an achievement at the end of it which is quite gratifying.I did another one of these and it used puff stitches for the petals rather than popcorn stitches. I am still a beginner for the most part, and I had never done the popcorn stitch before. I love the puff stitch, and I wasn't sure about this popcorn stitch, but after I did a few of them, I saw how it was different from the puff stitch but quite lovely in its own right. So, now I know a new stitch and it's building slowly on itself rather than some advanced project that leaves me frustrated. My only issue with this project is the choice of yarn. I think a beginner can handle yarn that frays and allows the needle to stick through and split it as long as they know what they're getting into. But depending on how much of a beginner, it might be better to start with an easier one strand yarn. So, consider how much a beginner you or the person you're gifting this to really is before you make the purchase.I love the booklet that comes with it, and it's nice that all of the necessary items are included. And if you decide you don't want to do an entire baby blanket, the squares can easily be turned into a hat or a pillow.

This kit has everything needed for a beginner to make these cute little daisy granny squares. It includes lots of yarn, plastic tapestry needles, stitch markers, two hooks (US size 4 and 4.5), a cutting tool and a booklet with instructions. As an advanced crocheter the instructions for the squares were super simple for me to read and I put together a couple of squares in no time. The yarn is soft, medium thickness and easy to work with. The colors are bright and pretty. That being said, for a beginner I think the instructions might be a lot more difficult to understand. I relied a lot on YouTube tutorials when I was learning how to crochet and I think links to videos would be helpful in this kit. The popcorn stitch for example is hard to understand if you’re just reading the instructions. The yarn is nice but the material is in Chinese so you can’t tell what it’s made of. I’m assuming it’s 100% acrylic but it would be nice to know if it’s a blend, especially since it seems to indicate that you can iron it on a low setting, which you can’t do with 100% acrylic yarn, so I’m not sure what it’s made of.

All I can say is that I love this kit. It comes with easy to knit yarn that does not fray, a crochet hook (4.5mm), stitch markers, and plastic needles. This yarn is soft and does not fray easy and if you make a mistake, unravels easily. comes with the purple, white, and yellow yarns. It comes with an awesome booklet that includes several different types of granny square patterns! The instructions were easy to understand and making this one square did not take much time or require any difficult stitches (maybe the popcorn stitch for the petal was different, but once you get a hang of it, it is easy to do). There are not a lot of different types of stitches you need to use around the flower- just double crochet, chains, and half double crochet so this is a very easy to make. So excited to work on this fun project.Update- working one color at a time instead trying to complete one square at a time seems to make the process faster. For example, knit just the centers of the flowers (about 10) and then work on the petals. Then work on the border. I say 10 because it doesn’t get boring doing just one color and you can see the finished product which breaks up the monotony.

This crochet kit seems well organized. All of the colored skeins of yarn are manageable in size. Everything you need is included so it is a good place for a beginner to begin. The instruction book has this pattern as well as other patterns included. As a beginner project it is great because you work a square at a time but there are many squares to make before completing the blanket. Therefore, I expect this to take a while.

yarn is horrible! if you make a mistake (which you will because the instructions are USELESS!), the yarn frays apart. only value are the ergonomic crochet hooks… oh.. the instructions don’t say which size crochet hook to use!

Instructions are sub par. You’re better off finding a YouTube tutorial if you’re truly a beginner. I had multiple rolls of yarn that had ENDS TIED TOGETHER in the middle of the roll. So what should have been one constant string was two that met and were tied together. Very frustrating.
