Every now and then you get a gem as a Vine reviewer, something you didn't really realize you'd been missing.Ok, that sounds exaggerated, but anyone who owns a pool knows that 90% of chlorinating is guesswork; dumping a load of chlorine every time you think about it, and then complaining halfway through the summer that you remember your liner being much more blue and much less green. This thing couldn't be simpler. You charge it up, connect it to the app, drop it into the pool and you're off to the races. I've been using it for over a month and haven't had to recharge it because of the solar panels on the device. It's got all the important details: ph, orp (as a proxy for chlorine levels, which isn't a stat that I'd previously used, but is way more scientific and precise), tds, and temperature; these get munged together and you're given a score. The device turns on once an hour and writes you a new score, and you get to track it in the app. If your score drops too much, it'll send you an alert - time to re-chlorinate!Super simple. There are some care-taking precautions around keeping one of the probes moist, especially for longer periods. Pretty simple, though we'll see over the winter if the probe survives. Also, TBD on whether or not new probes are accessible and/or affordable.Useful as I also have another Aiper product, so devices in one app is useful.Still, though, quite excited to get through the summer and see how much this makes my life easier. So-far, so-very-good!

I admit that I’m not tech-savvy. But snapping together the sensor module, solar panel, and communicator took literal minutes. Tossed it into the pool, and by the time I finished my coffee, the app showed it was online. The only hiccup? Inputting my pool specs (water type, volume info) felt a bit tedious, but I haven’t touched those settings since. The real-time pH tracking caught my attention first. After a heavy rainstorm, the app alerted me that pH dropped to 7.2 and suggested exactly how much adjuster to add. I cross-checked with my local pool shop’s test at a result of 7.3. Close enough for peace of mind. The ORP alerts also saved me from a potential algae bloom last month when chlorine dipped unexpectedly.Technically my city has not reached the pool temperature yet, but I am getting ready. At the time of the test, it is spring time which the weather can be cloudy/rainy for days. I worried about constant cloud cover. While the app nudged me to plug in the DC adapter during a 3-day gloom streak, it never stopped monitoring. On sunny days, the panel keeps the battery topped up effortlessly. Still curious how it’ll hold up in winter, though.Room for Improvement1. App Quirks: The weekly/monthly trend graphs are handy, but I wish I could zoom into specific time windows (like after a pool party).2. Ecosystem Lock-In: The robot integration only works with Aiper’s own cleaners, which feels limiting.Final Verdict: For Control Freaks Who Hate MicromanagingThis isn’t a magic bullet. The user will need to add chemicals manually. But as a silent, always-on watchdog, it’s brilliant. If you’re tired of second-guessing test strips or want to catch issues before they ruin your pool day, the Aiper smart pool monitor will meet the expectation. Just don’t expect it to replace human judgment entirely (yet).

I had high hopes for the Aiper Hydrocomm, but unfortunately, it has been a major letdown. The device began losing connection shortly after setup and failed to sync with the app consistently. It only worked intermittently for about five days before becoming completely unresponsive. What’s more frustrating is the lack of timely support from Aiper—I’ve been waiting for assistance with no meaningful progress. At this point, it’s essentially a $500 paperweight. Before purchasing, I strongly recommend reading the non-Amazon Vine reviews (free product given to select customers to provide a review), as they seem to provide a more accurate picture from actual paying customers. Overall, the product's performance and support have not lived up to expectations.

I have just about given up on this thing. It says the water is fine one minute and then two minutes later tells me the water quality is poor. Nothing changed. It just reads everything differently from one minute to the next. I am about to box this thing up and send it back. It’s too expensive to be dealing with this.

Didn't work out of the box. pH read consistently 14 and when I tried to calibrate it consistently failed. It didn't work to recall my scuba x1 either. I just had to fish it out with the pole every time. It's also huge.

As far as I know, it works as it should. So easy to use . I have no way to know if it is accurate though

This is my first smart pool monitoring device. I had issues getting the hydrocomm to read temperature. When I called hydrocomm twice on their customer service , I received incorrect information stating this device required x1 robots for it to send monitoring devices. It made no sense that was their form of troubleshooting as I had already have other readings but missing basic temperature. I decided to unbind the device and rebind it to my account on aiper app and that seemed to do the trick. The monitor has made it easier manage my chemicals as I don't do well with checking traditional checking shades of color .

I recently ordered this pool water quality monitor for use in my above ground pool. The product arrived promptly and was very well packaged.Included in the package is the main unit, charging cable, calibration powder, cup and mixer, 2 probe covers - one large and one perforated, a lanyard and the user manual. The probes need to be replaced every 12 months. This device monitors and analyzes pool water 24/7 and is powered via the solar panel. It can also be powered using the included DC charger. Prior to initial use, I fully charged the unit. It will run up to 15 days on a single charge. You need to download the corresponding app (Aiper) to get water quality information and then create an account and register the product. The app also serves as a remote control and provides both water quality information as well as recommendations. The app interface is super easy to use and understand. The power button controls both turning the unit on/off (hold for 2 seconds) and entering Network settings (press and hold for 5 seconds) To apply network settings you can either scan the QR code or set it up via Bluetooth (Wi-Fi requirements are either 2.4 GHz or 2.4GHz/5GHz mixed network). I had no issues whatsoever with app installation and set up using the QR scanner code. The blue probe measures pH levels, water temperature and ORP (oxidation reduction potential) and the purple probe measures TDS (total dissolved solids), electrical conductivity and water temperature. The unit is recommended to be used in a pool temperature range of 5-45 degrees C.I love my pool but maintenance can be time consuming sometimes, especially at the beginning of the season when first starting it up. This little gadget takes out the guesswork and saves a lot of time with its very accurate reading, real time display on the app whether you're home or at work and it will also sends hourly updates. It's great that you can also use it to test hot tub water! The main unit and all components are well built and durable. This device, combined with my robotic pool cleaner, has completely changed the time required maintaining and cleaning my pool!! Great product, completely transforms and simplifies pool ownership!!

Although pool season isn't quite here yet, the HydroComm can be used to monitor other artificial sources of water such as a hot tub or jacuzzi, or even your bath tub if you do want to (and is the main way of testing at this time of the year). The setup process is very painless by following the instructions to first replace the cap of the probe. The locking system for the probes are also really cool and should secure a very good water-tight connection. The rubberized rim around the top help keep the device safe when floating around in a pool, but also acts like a good bumper for when you pull the device out of the pool and it gets knocked over by accident.Speaking of pulling the device out of the pool, aside from having a convenient solar charging surface on the top, making it maintenance-free for the most part, if the weather does not permit, or if you are using it on a shaded area, you can pull it out to recharge it with a charger cable. In either case, the battery life is long enough even without solar charging to not make the use of the HydroComm a hassle.Following the instructions provided, it connects very easily to the Aiper app and the interface is quite easy to use. There isn't all that much you need to figure out and that is great because even someone less tech literate can easily use this product.I do want to note that variants of this product (the Pro version) is supposed to pair with some of Aiper's pool cleaning robots that supports wireless communications as a sort of underwater range extender, but not this one. Considering the same App connectivity, it seems reasonable to have good synergy between the products. If that is a combo you own or plan to buy, and feel like you would like to have, consider that version.Of course, this costs as much as many pool testing kits but it lets you monitor anytime and in real time, including the temperature of the water which is great if your pool isn't heated, or if you want to use it for a hot tub of any sorts. But there is one caveat when it comes to the cost... and that is the probe. The instructions mention that the probe has a lifespan of 1 year. As of speaking, replacement probes are not available for purchase nor Amazon nor Aiper's official website. The cost of these probe will ultimately decide how good this otherwise awesome device fares on the cost/value proponent. Understandably, it is a little early in the life cycle of the product to need replacement parts yet but it is still a big question mark in the running cost of this water quality tester. Furthermore, the probe needs to remain damp--when you take the HydroComm out water for an extended period you need to replace the open cap of the probe by the closed one with a sponge inside, with water in it to keep the probe moistened. The product is shipped with the sponge moistened, but for storage over winter for instance you need to do the same--and we can suppose that not doing so can break the probe. This makes the release of the replacement probe even more important, and I hope they can add them to the store soon! One last aspect about the probes is that this version of the HydroComm comes with one dummy probe out of the 3 slots. Perhaps this dummy probe on the Pro version is replaced with the underwater wireless communication device for pool robot interface, but perhaps Aiper can release other types of sensors for these that can further improve the range of tests it can perform. This is super exciting for sure, and considering the firmware update through the app is super easy and painless to do, a lot of possibilities are open here although we cannot predict if this will be fully utilized or not--or if there is even anything more that you'd need this device to do in the first place. In either case, a really compelling product that works great, and will make your life great at the cost of a lighter wallet.

What a cool device!Aiper really nailing with the pool tech lately!Gone are the days where owning a pool was an annoyance or a burden. Particularly from a cleaning and maintenance perspective. I currently own an Aiper pool vacuum robot, a skimmer robot and now, I've recently acquired the Aiper HydroComm Smart Pool Monitor. Here are a few points regarding this latest addition to my pool tech arsenal.Key Features:- The HydroComm monitors pH, ORP (oxidation-reduction potential), EC (electrical conductivity), TDS (total dissolved solids), and temperature. This all-in-one solution provides a complete overview of water quality, ensuring a safer and more comfortable swimming environment.- With hourly updates, I receive timely insights into my pool’s condition, allowing for prompt adjustments when needed.- The Aiper app offers instant access to water quality data, historical trends, and personalized maintenance tips. This feature has been great and also allows me to have a 'single pane of glass' view over all of my devices. The cleaner, skimmer and now smart monitor.- The solar panel ensures continuous operation with minimal energy consumption. Even on cloudy days, the device maintains functionality without issue.Performance:The device’s accuracy rivals that of professional testing kits, and the convenience of automated monitoring cannot be overstated. Gone are the constant trips to and from the pool store to have my water periodically tested. Particularly during opening when you're trying to get the chemicals just right.Design and Build:This is one sleek device. It's not overly large and I honestly thought it would be bigger. It's built exceptionally well and comes with 4 replaceable sensor modules which need to be replaced annually. Accessing these modules couldn't be easier. The entire top is solar panel wth a small LED display showing your power and wifi connection. It comes with a convenient tether which allows you to tie it off to your ladder or skimmer. It's got a rubber bumper as well so as not to damage any pool finish or liner. Conclusion:The Aiper HydroComm Smart Pool Monitor is a must-have for any pool owner looking for a reliable, efficient, and intelligent solution for water quality management. Its features and ease of use have not only simplified my maintenance routine but also enhanced my confidence in providing a safe swimming environment for my friend and family. We have a 2 year old with sensitive skin and we would find ourselves either purchasing test kits throughout the season or having our water tested periodically at the nearest pool shop. This is no longer the case and with one glance at my phone I can now see the overall pool quality and make adjustments as needed. As mentioned before, Aiper is quickly becoming an industry leader in the "Smart Pool Tech" space and their products speak for themselves in terms of quality, functionality and ease of use - as well as making ones life easier. I'm nearly at the point where maintaining my pool is an almost completely hands-off task now. I just need to hope that Aiper releases an app-controlled retractable pool cover :)
