The Aiper Surfer S2 is a well-built, solar-powered pool skimmer that makes surface cleaning effortless. It arrives neatly packaged and is easy to set up, with clear instructions for maintenance. The unit feels sturdy, with well-designed propulsion fans and a removable debris bin for easy cleaning.Performance-wise, it runs efficiently on solar power—lasting up to 10 hours on a sunny day while using minimal battery. It quickly picks up leaves and debris, keeping the water surface spotless. However, the built-in chlorine puck holder is poorly sized, making it difficult to fit standard pucks. The bot also struggles with obstacle avoidance, sometimes getting stuck on floating objects or at the skimmer basket inlet. The companion app is useful but can be tricky to set up in areas with weak Wi-Fi. Once connected, it works as expected.Overall, the Surfer S2 is a great hands-free skimming solution for pool owners who don’t need full pool cleaning. While it has some minor flaws, its solid construction, solar efficiency, and effective debris collection make it a strong choice.

So I sold my Beta SE skimmer and bought this new Surfer S2 (I'm on my 2nd unit because the first S2's's right propeller motor failed in less than 120hrs of run time, but at least it was before Amazon's 30 day return period was over). I also have the Aiper Scuba S1 as well which is awesome. While this Surfer S2 works very, very well when dry, as soon as it sprinkles even a little rain, I get warning messages on my phone that "one of the sensors may be blocked" and the unit just spins in tight circles forcing me to take it out of the pool. This happened to my first unit that died and now with my second unit as well and it's very frustrating.I emailed Aiper telling them my issue in hopes that they can issue a firmware update to somehow fix this as it is a pretty big issue, but I only received a reply from their AI bot which was no help at all.I will update this review when and if there is something to update.UPDATE:After the interaction with the AI bot (and before this review went live) a real person from Aiper reached out to me and we chatted back and forth over a few day span and they asked me to do several things like check the firmware, give them my order number, current shipping address and the unit's serial number which I did and in the end, they said that the unit should not be used in the rain. They also said that the algorithm is that the unit should 'self correct' itself from the spinning attitude back to normal function once it stops raining and the water dries from the sensor lenses. I have yet to give this a try as I have always removed the unit once I see the spinning but will leave it in the pool during the next rain session and see what happens.UPDATE 2: (Performance Review)The performance of this unit in the dry is simply amazing. It runs 24/7 and the lowest I've ever seen the battery is 51% and that was right before sunrise. The surface cleaning is simply on another level and the debris guard system works as advertised and nothing escapes while the unit stops, turns around and backs up. The wall edge cleaning works as described as well and from what I can tell, it will hug the wall of the pool for a complete lap about once every 3hrs.The surface of my water looks almost "polished" and it is awesome! It's nice going to bed on a windy night knowing that the little robot is on the job and whatever blows in will be picked up before my alarm goes off.The online app is pretty sparse, but it's fine and tells you how many total hours the unit has been in the pool, as well as how many hours and minutes the current clean cycle has been running. It shows air temp, battery level and unit info like firmware, serial number and ip address.Dry weather: Perfection!Rain: Not so muchUPDATE3:Aiper's customer service has reached out to me several times and has confirmed that with the help of my feedback they are working on a new firmware update that will vastly improve rainy weather performance and that update should be pushed out sometime in April 2025.I have changed my rating from 3 stars to 5 stars due to the dry weather performance, plus the incredible customer support that I have received and the quick attention to fixing the issue.UPDATE4:Aiper released a firmware update v2.0.0 that added the ability to 1) schedule cleaning times from the app, 2) turn the unit on or off from the app, 3) improve rainy weather performance.... and I can verify that the rainy day performance is 100% fixed from firmware version v1.0.0! Great job Aiper!

Skip the Scuba units. From having owned 2 of them already they are disappointing. However, this unit, is the one. It’s simple, straightforward, it works like a charm, cleans SUPER WELL. The solar feature and ability to dispense chlorine is clutch!! My only critique is the little door to close the chlorine tablet does not close properly with my current tabs. I’m sure a different brand may fit better but really not a big deal. Get this one

The AIPER Surfer S2 arrived in a well-packaged box, and I was immediately impressed by its sleek, futuristic design. The solar panel on top is a standout feature, emphasizing its eco-friendly appeal. The build quality feels sturdy, and the compact size makes it easy to handle. Setup was straightforward, with clear instructions and minimal assembly required.Setting up the AIPER Surfer S2 was a breeze. Simply charge it via USB for the first use, place it in the pool, and let the solar panel do the rest. The app guides you through the initial setup and pairing process.Once in the water, the skimmer gets to work immediately. It moves quietly and efficiently, covering the entire pool surface without missing spots. The smart navigation system ensures it avoids obstacles, and the app provides real-time updates on cleaning progress.Emptying the debris basket is quick and easy. The basket is large enough to hold a significant amount of debris, reducing the frequency of cleaning. The skimmer is made from high-quality, UV-resistant materials that withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight and pool chemicals. After weeks of use, it shows no signs of wear or damage. The solar panel remains efficient, and the internal battery holds a charge well.Minor Drawbacks:1. While the solar panel is a great feature, it’s less effective on cloudy or rainy days, requiring more frequent USB charging.2. The skimmer doesn’t handle debris at the bottom of the pool, so you’ll still need a separate pool vacuum for thorough cleaning.3. Occasionally, the app loses connection with the skimmer, requiring a restart toThe AIPER Surfer S2 Solar Pool Skimmer is a fantastic investment for pool owners who want to keep their water clean with minimal effort. Its solar-powered operation, smart navigation, and app support make it a standout choice for modern, eco-conscious households. While it’s not without its flaws (solar dependency and surface-only cleaning), its efficiency and convenience more than make up for them.Skip If:- You need a skimmer that also cleans the bottom of the pool.- You live in an area with limited sunlight and prefer a non-solar option.Pro Tip: Use the skimmer in conjunction with a pool vacuum for a spotless pool from top to bottom. Schedule cleaning sessions via the app to ensure your pool is always ready for a swim!

First off, well packaged. Nice and neat all around and very simple. Main unit and two additional boxes, one for the charger and one for the instruction booklet. The unit itself looks and feels well built. No rattles or sharp edges, definetly some thought went into it. The side rollers are freewheeling with very little play in them, which is good because it doesn't look lke they would be easy to service if they get clogged with dirt. Propulsion fans have clear and open pathways and good clearance around the blades so again shouldn't get clogged and even if they do it would be easy to clear out plus they can be removed it really tangled. Nice size debris bin and easy to remove and clean. The instructions provide details on how to service/clean the bin and impeller. If you have stairs or similar area where the water is a bit more shallow and the unit may run aground, it has legs that you can set to prevent it from going into those areas.I really appreciate the fact that it has a solar charging capability. After a good initial charge up by plug this thing will keep doing what it needs to do as long as the sun keeps shining. The app is nice bit of a pain to set up because I don't have good signal where the pool is for wifi so had to play around with the BT. The fact that it is through Google Play ie verified is great.Overall I think this is a great skimmer to help keep your pool clean. There are other units out there for full pool cleaning and such but if you don't need it then this will work just fine for you. I enjoy the pool with my dogs so I do not use any chemicals in my pool, but some other users have identified an issue with finding chlorine pucks that fit into the basket. I have never had to use them so I don't know what to tell you on this. If you already have a chemical regiment and don't need to use it then no worries but if you are looking for something to fit I would suggest just bringing the basket into a pool place. They should be able to sort it out for you.

This thing is awesome. Top of my pool is immaculate. With a solar charging top, I haven’t had to recharge it yet. I have rocks on the backside of my pool. On the rocks/boulders, it is getting snuffed up a bit. No issues on the tile/coping side. It goes into the tanning ledge and all throughout the pool. Never got tied up on anything. Highly recommended

Terrible! It worked less than 6 days. It now makes a noise, it starts and stops constantly and there is no debris that is blocking anything. It’s a complete piece of overpriced garbage. It has spent more time up against the wall and in the corner than anywhere else the entire time. It’ll be returned.

For a pool skimmer the Aiper Surfer S2 is a great choice. Like all Aiper products, the S2 is built like a tank - choice materials, easy maintenance and super easy reusable filters make the S2 and ideal choice. The rechargeable battery is juiced by included cord or the solar panels. Note that the solar panels are just that - only effective when sunlight is out. SO if you are in an area where sunlight isn't a constant factor, don't get too mad at the S2. It still provides ample juice for most cleaning sessions and you have a charger that quickly tops it up after every use.The S2 is very good in skimming the entire surface while avoiding obstacles. It's fairly quiet and gives you a thorough surface clean. The filter is easily removed for cleaning so that you can reuse it countless times! The app is a great as well since it provides you with programming so that you can schedule the cleans. It also tells you when the charge is low so that you can service it via corded charger.Overall, a really nice skimmer that provides ample cleaning ability! Aiper does it again!

So I've used this solar powered pool cleaning device since opening my pool. It has worked flawlessly. Who would have thought this little robot would be so darn awesome. This is a mid range peace of kit. It has some good features and software that elevates it above some of it's competition. With a 36h battery life and ease of use. This might be the ultimate companion for those days where you want to enjoy you're pool instead of cleaning it.The build:This product is built with dense high precision molds that are designed to be fully submersible. It boasts high precision spacial awareness sensors that can navigate many types of surfaces. These include flat, decline, incline, walls, rounded and stairs. The cleaning heads offer surface and side scrubbing actions. The robot also sucks in small to medium sized debris with ease. As scene on the pictures above the bottom roller treads are suction based and offer a smooth transition from floor to walls. Without damaging you're pools cover. The recharging receptacle is fully inclosed in a water tight gasket preventing any leaks and potential moisture damage. The large detritus basket is easy to remove and features micro mesh technology. Optimizing water clarity and offering a superior micro particulate sieve. The latest model offers an upgraded back door design. Specifically used in manual mode when performing backtracking maneuvers. The other version would sometimes spit out leaves and other particulates. Thanks to this welcome upgrade that is a thing of the past.Cleaning modes:There are 2 cleaning modes to choose from. Auto, and manual.1 Auto Mode cleans the entire pools surface..then docs the vacuum close to the edge for easy access.2 Manual mode: Allows you to control the robot directly via the app. You can guide it's path in real time.In use:I have tested this unit for the past 2 months without any hiccups. It has been consistently good and does it's job with minimal effort. I have tested in in my own above ground circular pool and my sisters in ground rectangular pool. It performed great in both circumstances. Offering the same level of leaning power. For all the good there was a handful of times that the robot got confused on my sisters regular stairs. After turning it off then back on it worked fine after recalibration. Since this is a battery operated machine it takes it's time and might be a bit slow for some users. Cleaning my sisters 28L buy 10W foot pool took almost 1h50mins. This included the walls and surface. In my modest 24 foot above ground pool it took 1hour. Witch is pretty good especially considering, I only had to empty the basket once. In the fall it needed more frequent emptying around 2 to 3 times per use. Since I have many trees on my property. . The unit also charges in the sun offering a constant cleaning solution with even less fuss. This is especially true if you have no trees in you're yard. Yet with the constant shade my unit needed to be topped up at the end of a hard days work.Final thoughts:If you are looking for the robot that could. Then look no further THEN the AIPER surface s2 solar. The ultimate pool cleaning solution. Stop stressing and start relaxing this summer. No worries when guest come over for that all important pool party. The top will be sparkling clean. With it's ease of use high precision sensors 2 modes of operation, voice assistant, solar power, full manual control and great battery life. This might just be the ultimate solution for you're pool cleaning needs. HIHGLY RECOMMENDED

Overall, I'm very happy with the Aiper Surfer S2. First skimmer, but I feel stronglt that its made a huge difference in keeping my pool water cleaner. I'm rather surprised with what I see in the collection cup to be honest. We use the pool with that much dirt? The solar is great and the app control is a nice feature. I haven't tried any other skimmer but I'm sticking with this one. I hope to not experience the dreaded "stopped working" after a season that others have experienced.I use it daily. Sensors don't work well at night so I pull it out. The sensors aren't perfect so I've had to our something on my spa wall to help. It leans slightly backwards but that doesn't affect it. I have gone to turning off my pool pump 6 days a week and just run this and my robot pool vacuum. Saves on electricity. It is kinda pricey, but again I think the app control more than makes up for it. Especially when it gets stuck on the spa wall and you're upstairs watching from a window. It's actually so relaxing to watch it work. Easy to clean, though be careful of jamming your finger pulling out the filter box. At first I thought a completely closed filter box was overkill but it's nice to not have any of the first go back into the pool when you're pulling the unit out.Wish it was slightly faster, but it does a great job. I like when it finds itself running the entire perimeter of my pool, in either direction. Solid build. No regrets. Fingers crossed!
