Looks great as small serving plates for canapés- Compact rectangular size. 8" by 4".- Dishwasher and microwave safe.- The finish looks handmade, not perfectly flat, I like the look.I didn't observe any notable shortcomings.The box included six plates. I love these plates, but not for the reason most people would. I do watercolor, and these make the perfect mixing palettes! They're just the right size for a crowded work area, and the paints don't bead up on them. If you're a watercolorist, try these out. If you just want to eat off them, or use them for serving snacks, etc. they'd be good for that too. lol Nice heavy porcelain, meant to last.

I love these plates. The crisp whiteness of them means they will work with any table scheme. They are the perfect size for a unique salad presentation, buy i didn't get them for that. I got them to dole out soap supplies on for classes I teach. They are perfection for that! I really like the weight and heft of these plates - they do not come across as cheap at all. They would be beautiful for anything you choose to use them.

This is a really fun plate set, I love the rectangles and that there are 6 plates in the set instead of 4. Nice white color, they're fairly small so they likely won't work for every day lunches, as I don't think a full sandwich would fit on them very well. However, they serve the purpose I ordered these for, which is for when I have dinner guests over for wine and appetizers. Love them!

These little plates are a disappointment. They're true to the 8" x 4.8" description, but the usable area is quite a bit less, not much bigger than a dollar bill. And, annoyingly, 4 of the 6 don't sit flat. They rattle quite noticeably on the table while in use.As far as them being "The Perfect Gift, Wrapped and Ready: These salad plates come beautifully packaged," well, they're not. They come in a slightly beat-up brown corrugated cardboard box with lots of packing tape. No inner gift box. I'd be embarrassed to give them to anyone.

I really like the idea of using stylish rectangular serving plates but these plates are just too small for my intended purpose. It’s made of white high quality porcelain so it handles nice, cleans well and looks good. However, I expected the 8 inch by 5 inch to be able to hold more food but the upward curve on all four sides makes for a small center serving area. It can basically can hold only two English Muffins. I would not agree with their web site that states these plates have a generous capacity that can be used for main courses. However, in my opinion they too small to be used as salad dish. Good news: it’s lightweight, stacks well and can be placed inside the microwave, oven, refrigerator and dishwasher. A set of six plates is a good number, but I will be ordering rectangular plates that are larger in size next time.
