I need a small harp for traveling - and the Aklot 15 string seems to be a harp that reviews have mentioned is acceptable. It is tuned in 2 octaves with the lowest string being C4 (middle C on the piano). I like how it's very lightweight, and using the strap buttons with a strap would be helpful for keeping it on your lap (or between your knees) more securely. But the strings? Oh my. Of course the colors are not correct, but they seem to be made of plastic - not nylon. Like a material you would find on a $15 plastic 'ukulele with plastic strings. Needless to say it sounds horrible - really more like a toy than a harp. There are harp companies that do make nylon, "real harp" string sets for the Aklot. It's imperative that you change the strings if you expect to play this as a real harp. The tuning pins are similar to other harps (they are not zither pins) but probably a Chinese design. Although the plastic strings are still stretching (normal) and need constant tuning, I don't think these tuning pins are reliable - of course only time will tell. The tuning key is particular to this harp - other tuning keys will likely not work. The harp I received has some nicks in the wood, and some areas that look like someone tried to restrain over the nicks to cover them. That doesn't bother me, but if you're a purist just expect that.I'm not sure if replacing the strings with nylon harp strings ($50) will make the harp sound good? Possibly. Will the tuners hold pitch? I'm not sure.

It came very quickly within a day or two of the order like same day next day sort of thing. The quality is very good it is hardwood and not plywood which is wonderful it has beautiful residence especially in the lower courts and definitely worth the small investment it’s beautiful. My critiques are that the creators obviously didn’t know how to string a heart which is concerning as the C strings should be red and the F strings should be black or blue. Or if you’re going from the ancient Egyptian rainbow string model which is spoken about an Egyptian sound alchemy video on YouTube for those interested.. Then in this case the F strings should be green it seems Dave confused to the strings in this case.. They are different thicknesses that is to say different gauges which means that you can’t just swap the strings and the extra strings they come with or not the correct strings either it’s also very hard to find the correct strings that you’re looking for to restring this Harp because the only providers for replacement strings are in Ireland, Vermont and If you are in North America that is to say Canada this is very expensive for shipping .. You’ll wind up paying about $15 for a new set of these particular strings but you will spend about $50 in shipping costs and that’s just to get it from the border of the United States into Canada they are for anyone else reading this from anywhere else in the world given I am aware that this is amazon.ca I would hate to see how much it would cost to get new proper strings shipped to you so this is a definite down side I also find that the residence isn’t great in the higher strings in fact it’s pretty much not there and it gives a very clunking sound when strummed.. no I do still think this is very good quality I’m already saving to purchase a larger harp.. but for anybody that is wanting to start out and get familiarized with the heart and just learn I would definitely recommend this instrument as a cheaper start up option to see if you feel intuitive with the instrument. For me this has been the case and this is why I will be saving to get something that is more equipped with the range in which I sing at.. this is to say that this heart in particular is in middle C and only has two octaves but for those that wish to sing along with it I would recommend definitely investing in a more expensive one that has more octaves ranging from lower to higher but with more angelic residence as we are familiar with hearing from harps.. Lastly I would like to say this is not a toy but definitely something that children can start on to familiarize themselves and adults alike can also do this.. lastly there are no levers or pedals on this herb so because of this you cannot access sharps or flats and if you tend to sing in these ranges or songs with interesting melodies that include these quite frequently this is not the right instrument for you. Personally in conclusion I love this instrument and I’m very happy with my purchase and will definitely be investing in purchasing probably a rainbow harp in the future.. Depending if I can’t find one that is made from solid wood or made from plywood in which I would just replace the strings on a larger heart that is hardwood with some strings that are from the rainbow heart website I’m not sure if they sell sets of 15 for the small harp but it’s definitely something I’m looking into and I would recommend to anybody for start up learning.

Nice little harp - with updated strings, it has a beautiful tune. With the included strings its a bit plinky. After tuning every day plus playing, it started to hold its tuning - yeah! With a 2 octave range, there are enough notes to play songs and have fun. No, of course this isn't concert grade, its get-your-toes-wet-for-not-a-big-investment-grade. I'm hoping to take it as my carry on in a few weeks!

Solid Mahogany! Such a sweet little harp! I am not surprised it sold out. I hope they make more for others to enjoy. Also, some strings are wrongly placed. (Red and green are mixed up) Also I expected Red and Blue for C's and Fs but it does sound pretty and it looks pretty too. It stands on its own and does not require an additional stand.Comes with strap and tuner and a fitted carrying case. For the price it's excellent.I'm planning on travelling with this but kids could use this as well because it's sturdy and light. My favorite item I've ever purchased on Amazon.❤️PS Aklot can you please tell us how to order replacement strings in the future? Thank you.

it's a very nice object by itself. However, the bigger problem is that the holder for the strings isn't stiff enough so it loosen almost inmediately. So, you constantly need to re-tune it.The stock strings do not sound very well neither, so I am considering changing it, if I find a way to make the holding pins stiffer so it doesn't loose its tuning.

Harps under $500 are often meant as toys. This means that they are built to plink away at absentmindedly, similar to the function of a therapy harp. They are not built to be used as professional musical instruments or even casual musical instruments because they will lack range, a carrying case, an ability to tune or have easy replacement of parts (buttons/valves/pads/strings) once they break down. But this Aklot harp comes with the following:1) 2-octave range of strings already installed2) A replacement set of strings if these strings break3) A tuning key4) Easy to tune and can be done sitting down or standing up5) A carrying case6) A nice adjustable strap for the harp itself so that you can have it securely against your body and minimize harp movement. The less your harp moves, the easier it is to play. I can walk around with this harp hands-free and it is as secure as a messenger bag.7) The same body shape as a professional harp, which is very good for when you buy an upgrade.Of course, there are some downsides. This harp is gentle and quiet. You can play it in your bedroom or office and not disturb anybody... but it will be drowned out if you try to play with others. Even when playing with the radio or any music accompaniment, you need to place your ear against the instrument to hear it. This harp is meant to be played as a solo (a capella) instrument in order for you to hear it clearly. Also, when you pluck a string, you know darn well that these "harp strings" are scarcely any better than fishing line that has been cut down to vibrate at the proper pitch! lol. Adding in the fact that the body of the instrument (specifically the soundbox) is not very resonant, you are not going to get a big and deep and beautiful sound. Rather, you get a "good enough for a total harp beginner to enjoy" type of sound. And finally, unlike a high-quality harp where poor finger technique will still sound somewhat nice, your finger technique on an Aklot harp will have a big effect on your sound production. So why do I give it 5 stars? This instrument has enough range to genuinely learn harp (via Udemy or other online music lessons) while still being cheap enough that it can be purchased on a whim for personal use. It also makes a superb gift. Therapy harps exist for a reason. Aklot made a serviceable harp for ALL people and not just wealthy people with a lot of disposable income. I thank Aklot for that.Let this Aklot be your starter harp. You won't be disappointed!

I think this product is a very good value for the price. I find myself playing away on it several times a day and it does have a nice tone. I would especially recommend this for anyone who has never played harp, as a first step before considering paying for a much more expensive and larger harp with more strings and sharpeners. Be sure to search for Kristine Warmhold on YouTube. She has an excellent series of videos in which she plays various harps, including the Aklot 15 string, and her arrangements for this small harp sound very good.

So happy with this purchase!Beautiful harp. This is my first time playing harp and this one is really easy to play and tune up. (Needs more tuning in the beginning but starts holding tune. I check tuning before each time playing... Just as I would a guitar or any other stringed instrument). Sounds nice. Relaxing. This is wayyy better than I thought it would be! Well worth the price! Great value! I play this harp more than my guitar! So Happy with it!
