To start with, I really like this set. The mesh pads feel great and the cymbals have pretty good response. It was very easy to setup and it's reasonably stable. The kit is easy to extend with an additional cymbal or pad and it's pretty flexible. There are some easy improvements that you can make for the kit. The first is to get some noise isolation pads or boards to pace under the legs. That helps to stabilize the kit and dampen vibrations. One other easy improvement is that adhesive foam dampening pads can be added to the backs of all of the mesh pads. That cuts down on some echo. Last, I noticed that the wires going to the piezo sensors were loose and would rattle around in a few of the mesh pads. That's easily fixed by removing the mesh head and taping the wires down with electrical tape. The two biggest issues that I have with the kit are the module's sound quality and the sensitivity of the hi hat pedal. The module seems to introduce a lot of noise to the audio in signal and the built in sounds aren't great. The hi hat pedal doesn't have a lot of discernment between the open, closed, and half closed states which leaves me using it more as an open-or-closed trigger pedal.Overall, the kit is an excellent buy for the price and very worth it for beginners or anyone else that's just looking to have a good time without breaking the bank.

I have never played a real set of drums so I cannot compare it to an acoustic kit.To set up probably took about an hour to figure it all out and then adjusting the height and position once put together. It's great fun and easy to find drum tabs to learn songs. It's worth watching some videos to learn about the unit and how to do different stuff in the kit mode or learning mode. There's also lots of song tutorials for the drums you can find that are easy to play and sound good. There's lots of pre set kits and when learning a song or beat I scroll through to find closest sound to what I want. The pads are fairly quiet but the bass pedal you can hear downstairs so I added some foam boards under the pedal to drown out the noise.Really happy with the kit and lots to play around with to improve your playing and to find the sound your after.

My drum practice days ended the day we decided to have an Airbnb rental at our house - but now I can practice again! The sound is okay, not amazing but the ability to play anytime I want now is priceless. It's a really nice set and feels similar enough to the real thing to be very satisfying. The cymbals feel the most different. The mesh heads are wonderful. I have had some problems with my Iphone XR saying that the drum module is not a compatible accessory. (UPDATE: I changed to a male to male aux cord with a little iphone adapter for the end and now it works). Oddly it will start playing for about 2 minutes and then I'll get that error message. I tried different cords etc. and finally gave up and I'm using my laptop instead and that has been working fine. For the price it is terrific. I love that I can make a royal mess of things trying to work out new fills without having to be self conscious that my whole neighborhood is being subjected to my experiments. I can play in peace to my heart's content. I really love it. It's not absolutely silent but quite quiet. People in the next room may be able to faintly make out some tapping noises, but they can't be heard outside the house or on a different floor inside the house. It feels like a miracle. So happy.

Overall a great electronic drum set for the price. The build for the set was pretty straight forward in the directions provide. The feel is pretty good when playing. The mesh pads provide excellent rebound as do the cymbals. I wish that a dual zone ride was provided so the bell sound wasn't velocity dependent. The provided foot pedal is okay. The spring holding tension to the pedal slowly unscrews as you play, so you need to tighten it ever 15 minutes or so of playing. For upgrade options for pedal, the kick tower is large enough to accommodate a double pedal if you plan to use one. The hi hat controller pedal works great. As far as the sounds go, all the tom, snare and bass drum sounds are excellent. The cymbal sounds are okay. The hi hat has three positions closed, open, and half open. What's nice about the module is if you don't like the sounds you can easily connect it to your computer via a usb type a to type b cable to use a vst to use any sounds you would like. I would definitely recommend this set to anyone looking for a cheaper electronic drum set option. The biggest pluses to this set as opposed to other sets in the same price range are that you get all mesh pads and you have an actual kick drum tower.

My wife wanted a drum kit for Christmas, and we live in an apartment. As you may have guessed a drum kit does not bode well with neighbors. So after watching some youtube videos of electronics drum sets I decided this was the way to go. From my research three brands rose to the top of all the reviews. Roland, Alesis, and Yamaha. The Roland kits are pricey, but they get stellar reviews. Alesis was more affordable, and the reviews are awesome for them as well. I will be honest I did not read much into the Yamaha. I was already set it was going to be Alesis or Roland for my wife. After much research I decided the Alesis Surge Mesh kit was the best for her. It had all the features she needed, some expandability, and the reviews were all good! After she opened it, set up was relatively simple. Follow the instructions which are all in pictures. After all guys don't read the words in instructions anyways. Sat the wife behind the kit, and adjusted it to fit her. And away she went. This kit is absolutely worth every penny. The drum kit sounds extremely well. Could not be happier with it's performance! Some side notes though! So yes this kit comes with every thing you need for it, and it alone! If this is your very first drum kit you will need a throne, amplifier, and drum sticks. The kit does come with some wood tipped sticks, but in the reviews these are not the best thing for a mesh kit.My add ons to this kit!-Zildjan nylon tipped anti-vibe drums sticks. Made for electric drums, and feel awesome!-Simons DA50 Amplifier, this is a must if you want to hear your drums! Great little amp! This amp with the Surge Kit is a solid combo!-Alesis Electronic Drum Head Set. These headphones are designed for electric drums and sound amazing. Remember that part about us living in an apartment? My wife can play as loud as she wants and all you hear is the tap of the stick to the pads! These headphones are a MUST (especially for parents with young trainees :p)-Gibraltar throne... you got a nice drum kit.... sit on something that wont make your sore or tired! Gibraltar makes the best drum thrones.-Vic Firth drum stick caddy, seriously this is a nice addition to ANY drum kit.-Lastly get a quality 1/4" cable to go between the control and the amp.... DO NOT CHEAP OUT! you will regret it!All these items are available here on Amazon, or your favorite Guitar (ahem) place. :D Happy drumming!
