Visually, the cut and slope on these line up with a more well-known reed. It's a little uneven at the shoulder, but it doesn't seem to affect the playing. I had no problems making all the appropriate noises in beginner registers. It didn't take much effort at all, or excessive soaking. I would definitely recommend these to beginners who want to stock up. 2.5 is a good, beginning strength with enough ease and volume for school ensembles.

My 9th grader can't tell the difference between these and the ones from the music store.

These reeds make good sound. They work similarly to other brands I've used in my alto.

I requested these for my Paris-Selmer alto sax, and these play as well as any brands I used in the past. The quality seems good so far, and the price is excellent for a 10-pack. I believe these are less expensive than the 5 pack of name brand I bought when I was actively playing. These are slightly longer than my previous Rico reeds, but they still fit perfectly in my ligature. I personally cannot tell the difference between the two reeds while playing. I stopped playing for many years, so I am just getting back into playing. I’m not able to play simple things like Mary Has a Little Lamb again yet, so no recordings from me at this time. For a student like me, they are all I need to get back to making music.

This is a great beginner reed. While I am a beginner and it suits my needs, my son is a musician with 15 years and conservatory school, with the Alto being his first instrument. He feels they are not on par with pro reeds (Rico & Van Doren) but are perfect for the beginner. His feeling is the biggest difference is that these will have some variation from reed to reed, and the premium brands will make 100 reeds, where 99 will be absolutely identical, and you can count on it.So, I can't tell the difference myself, but he felt it as soon as he played them. That doesn't make them bad, just not at the top of the league.

These reeds were disappointing. They cracked easily and would cause squeaks when playing😩

Great for my son's saxophone! He has been playing for a couple of years now, and the number of reeds you get for this price is a good value. These seemed to work for him right out the box and fit well into the saxophone. He's eager and ready to play!

These are decent student reeds, easily on par with Rico orange box. The quality isn't bad, and htey're uniformly cut. I had some nasty squeak on one mouthpiece I tried, but on my student mouthpieces and my jazz mouthpiece, they can really sing even right out of the box. They aren't too stiff or brittle at the leading edge.THAT BEING SAID, let me teach you a quick trick to turn them into amazing reeds. Don't waste money on a reed knife or a $200 piece of steel (that you could get for $5 without a brand name, anyway). All you need is any dollar store emery board that's about an inch across, preferably one with a low grit and high grit sides.Lay the emery board flat on a table, soak the reed in water (or your mouth) for a few minutes, and then gently slide it over the emery board. Lay the reed on your tongue. If you feel rough patches or if it doesn't feel smooth, keep gently buffing the reed until it feels smooth. You don't want to take off a bunch of material here. You're just trying to even out any rough spots! It might take a little practice to get the hang of it, or the exact sweet spot you're looking for, but I've made these $1 (a piece) reeds play like my favorite synthetic reeds, and salvaged *far* worse reeds from far more well known brands too (Looking at you, Vandoren!)
