The sun comes blazing in from the west in the afternoons and directly into the dog kennel so wanted to get something to take the sun beam down a couple levels and give the dog a little relief. Also wanted it to be water permeable so that it doesn't collect in the event of a heavy rain. This fits the bill in the end though I don't think it will last forever; will probably need a replacement by next summer.

So far, so good, provides shade, but is not fully opaque. Is lower quality than expected - not sure how to articulate it, but here goes: if you get a mesh tarp, the weave is "tight" and "flat", this is not, it's a bit loose and "poofy" - reminds me of a velcro loop field a bit. That probably gives it some stretch, but more importantly, if you're using it as a tarp, it's going to have a tendency to get snagged on things. If you're using it as shade cover, I suspect it'll tend to trap things like leaves and pine needles. If you live in an area where you need one, it would make a good bee barrier. All in all - very good, but I expected a little better for about $50.

The Amgo 50% Black Shade cloth works as a covering. Yet to be determined how long this lasts, but did provide some shade for parts of my garden in the hottest parts of the summer.

This black shade cloth has been a great addition to our outdoor space, providing much-needed relief from the intense sun. The material is sturdy and well-made, offering effective UV protection while still allowing air to circulate. It’s made a noticeable difference in keeping our patio cooler, and it’s holding up well against the elements, including wind and rain. The installation process was fairly straightforward, and the cloth is easy to secure with the included grommets. It’s versatile too—we’ve used it both over our garden to protect delicate plants and over our seating area, and it performs well in both scenarios. However, I did notice that the cloth can sag slightly in the middle over time, especially if not tensioned properly during installation. It’s not a major issue, but it does require a bit of adjustment to keep it looking taut and tidy. Additionally, while the shade it provides is effective, it’s not completely opaque, so there’s still a bit of light filtering through. This might be a consideration depending on your needs.Overall, this shade cloth does a great job and has significantly improved our outdoor comfort. It’s durable, functional, and looks good too. Just be prepared to make a few tweaks during installation to get the best results. A solid product that I would recommend!
