It fits a Foredom threaded handpiece perfectly, as well as a Dremel with the threaded nose (they screw into the crossbar). It requires assembly but it's easy to figure out: remove the two little screws with the included hex wrench, insert them through the base plate into the countersunk recesses, and into the threaded vertical supports. You can add a dot of blue Loctite to each screw if you like. When you assemble it, pay attention to the little air tube sticking out of the crossbar; this is where you can connect an air hose to blow away the chips/dust and keep the work clear of debris. Most techs have the tube pointing to the 'closed' side of the base plate so the hose stays out of the way as they work, looking through the 'open' side of the base plate. To use it, screw the large thumbwheels all the way down. Insert the rotary tool with cutter into the crossbar and snug it in place. Adjust the top thumbscrews to set the depth of cut, and then rotate each large thumbwheel upward to lock the crossbar in place. You're ready to work.

I bought this router base to do some re-routing of inlays in an old Gretsch, and it's not very accurate for that kind of thing, and the adjustment for height leaves little to be desired, and it's very non intuitive to use. It's pretty clumsy and cheap obviously. I just bought the more expensive Stew Mac version, which made the job a lot faster, more accurate, and easier to control the Dremel tool. As a serious guitar repairman, I wouldn't recommend this router base.

Hard to align, and screws that attach to the plate seem to loosen on their own. Despite the good looks, it feels like junk when actually attempting to use it. I thought I'd use this for cutting inlays, but after some basic tests, that idea is out.

I am afraid this router base was not the quality I expected.

This base was exactly what I was looking for to make better use of my Dremel for wood carving. It takes a little getting used to adjusting, but once you get the hang of it things go smooth. If there was one thing that I'd say could be improved, it would be some kind of measurement of how deep you are going. If you need a specific depth, getting the base set to that depth can be a little tricky.
