The case is made of approximately 1/2" thick plywood except for the back panel which is about 1/8" thick plywood. Joining is rough. For my purposes the wood case is OK, however. I already refurbished the hardware and invested in reinforcing the case, refinishing it and, adding additional features to accommodate a microscope and its peripheral parts. In summary, it is not what you used to get with a Zeiss or a Leitz instrument but for the price you cannot expect much more.

This case was a good idea. Unfortunately the execution was terrible. The door was warped out of the box, poor quality joinery, and what appears to be damage to the surfaces by poor packaging.
