Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch

Andersen No-Sway, No-Bounce Weight Distribution Hitch

The smoot, silent, & simple weight distribution hitch for travel trailers

We didn’t just raise the bar, we eliminated the need for sway bars entirely. The design of the Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch eliminates sway and bounce in your trailer.

4" Drop Weight Distribution Hitch

Weight Distribution Hitch Components

  • Grease-free system comes in either a 2" & 2-5/16" ball
  • Tongue brackets fit 3", 4", 5", and 6" trailer frames (A-frames, V-frames, & Y frames)
  • 4", 6" or 8" Drop/Rise adjustable steel rack
  • 2", 2-1/2" or 3" shank/receiver
  • Motion Springs & Tension Chains (shock absorbers prevent bouncing similar to traditional weight distribution hitches.)

How It Works: Motion-Dampening Chains & Springs eliminate the need for sway bars

Traditional Weight Distribution spring bars

Traditional Weight Distribution Sway Bars

Traditional weight distribution hitches utilize a spring bar system. As the spring bars are lifted, the leverage pushes the tow vehicle’s weight towards the front axle.

Unnecessary

Disadvantage: Unnecessary Bounce

However, after going through a dip, the spring bar can act like a diving board—loading and releasing kinetic energy, causing the truck and trailer to continue to bounce.

Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch

Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch

The Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch efficiently shifts the tow vehicle’s weight forward towards the front axle (without any lifting).

Andersen eliminates bounce

Advantage: Motion-Dampening Eliminates Bounce

The chains and patented motion-dampening springs resist bounce by pulling at the right-angle to the up and down movement, eliminating unnecessary bounce.

Ball Housing Sway Control

How It Works: Sway control auto-adjusts to tongue load weight

The sway control in the ball housing system self-adjusts to tongue load—meaning the heavier the load the greater the sway control. We recommend at least 300 lbs on the tongue to allow the mechanism to be able to provide anti-sway using the friction material in the housing.

  • With the coupler attached to the Tapered Ball, there's no need for grease. The ball connects to anti-sway plate, integrating the motion-dampening chain & spring system.
  • The Friction Cone is a brake-like material that works with the tapered ball and ball housing to eliminate sway. The friction between the tapered ball and housing allows the hitch to “self-adjust” according to the tongue weight.
  • The Anti-Sway Ball Housing securely holds the tapered ball and friction cone in place. The two holes allow for height adjustment on the adjustment rack

After reading some recommendations, I purchased this Andersen Hitch system for my NuCamp T@B 400 trailer and 2019 Ford Explorer. My overall experience with this company was not favorable. My trailer has a 4 3/8-inch size frame and the company recommended the 3302 with a universal bracket, which does not fit my trailer. Andersen neglected to verify my frame size when I contacted them to determine the proper hitch system. I discovered this issue after much frustration following installing the brackets. I contacted the company's customer service and they offered to send me the correct brackets if I paid for the replacement bracket and the shipping. They would refund my bracket cost if I returned the original universal bracket. After getting the correct brackets for the trailer, I used the system on one trip and I'm not overly impressed with its distribution capability on my vehicle and trailer combination. It still feels like there is too much weight on the rear. Plus, my trailer bounced rather severely when it hit a rough stretch of freeway. I find the sway control plate cumbersome to hook-up to the hitch, especially when sliding the pin through the hole on the hitch. When not it use, there seems to be more parts and pieces to take off the trailer compared to a standard torsion bar hitch system.Overall, this company's customer service needs improvement and make sure you ask the right questions before you buy. Do careful research on what is needed for your rig. Despite the videos the company shows on installation, I strongly recommend visiting a professional hitch dealer to make sure this product or whatever you buy properly works. You do not want to compromise safety when you are towing.
