About this item

  • Coupling fitting for connecting two tubes with the same diameter
  • Flared tube connection on one side and a female NPT connection on the other
  • Brass for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability
  • Operating temperature range of -65 to +250 degrees F
  • Resists mechanical pullout for a more secure connection
  • These fittings contain lead and are not allowed by federal law to be installed for potable water use in the U.S.A. and its territories.

This Anderson Metals coupling compression tube fitting is made of brass, has a flared tube connection and a female NPT connection, and is suitable for use with fuel and gas systems. It is made of brass for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability. This fitting can be used with copper, brass, aluminum, or steel tubing to connect two tubes of the same diameter in a straight run. It has a flared tube connection on one end and a female National Pipe Taper (NPT) connection on the other, creating a tighter seal than straight threads. This fitting is part of an assembly that resists mechanical pullout for a more secure connection, and can be assembled and reassembled without affecting the seal. This coupling compression tube fitting has an operating temperature range of -65 to +250 degrees F and is suitable for use with fuel and gas systems, plumbing, refrigeration, and vacuum applications.

Tube fittings are components used for connecting, branching, terminating, and changing the direction of tubing in pneumatic and hydraulic systems. They are made of brass, stainless steel, PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), and other materials that resist corrosion and wear. Tube fittings have various types of connections, including threaded, welded, barbed, and push-to-connect (also called one-touch). Push-to-connect connections do not require tools or sealants. Tube fittings are used in various applications, including machine tools, airplane and truck controls, and automated production lines, among others.

Anderson Metals manufactures brass fittings, valves, and pipe nipples. The company, founded in 1951, is headquartered in Kansas City, MO.

Seems well built, but the threads don't work properly for retrofitting the regulator on a Weber Q grill with a 20lb propane hose+regulator combo. After initially trying and failing with this, I ultimately went with the LASCO 17-4627 3/8-Inch Flare by 1/8-Inch Female Pipe Thread Brass Adapter, at the recommendation of another reviewer.

I used this to attach a standard bbq hose and regulator to my Weber Q2200. Use some yellow teflon tape (for gas) and it threads perfectly with the Weber valve.

Bought this fitting (3/8" male flare with 1/8 NPT female), combined with a short hose (Camco 59913) and now my Kenmore Grill (model 141.163291 ) now has a working side burner - way cheaper than $121 for the oem replacement part (hose with special quick connect). Simply removed old broken hose, unscrewed existing quick connect fitting that was screwed into the tubing under the burner switch and now if my hose ever rots out again I can just buy a plain old $10 grill hose.

Best coupling solution to convert Weber Q grills from the small 1lb propane bottles to the much more economical 20lb tanks. This brass fitting, coupled to a standard propane hose and regulator, at the 20lb tank connection, solves the problems encountered when the Weber regulator mounted on the grill is used with the 20lb adapter hose from Weber and others. Remove the Weber Q regulator on the grill, install this coupling with 3 wraps of YELLOW GAS/TFE Pipe Tape, not the indoor white plumber pipe tape. Purchase and attach, with 3 wraps of YELLOW GAS/TFE Pipe Tape, a standard propane grill hose and regulator, regulator at the 20lb tank connection, and you will no longer have the no/or low flame problems that the standard adapter hose has due to the safety features built into every new style 20lb propane tank. Of course you will lose the convenience of the one pound tank hook-up for tailgating or picnics. WARNING: Test the 2 new YELLOW Pipe Tape connections with soapy water for bubbles when you turn on the propane before using, if you see bubbles redo the connection with 3 new wraps of YELLOW Pipe Tape and test again.

I bought this based on reviews from others saying it worked with their Weber Q's. It does NOT fit properly on the Weber Q. The threads are incorrect, this is a female NPT. Apparently the proper thread is FPT. I ordered LASCO 17-4627, hopefully this will be the proper thread. For those saying it worked on theirs, sure I could force it and make it work but I prefer to not screw up the threads on my valve in case I feel like putting the original regulator back on, and I like having more then 2-3 threads engaged. :)3 Stars to get attention of those looking to convert their Weber. Otherwise great machining and it seems to be a quality piece for what it is.
