This was pretty easy to assemble and even included a couple extra spikes. Its straight forward to use, my only issue is its advertised as a 2 in 1 tool, how ever its not easy to switch between the 15 spikes to the 5 spikes. You have to actually take the tool apart to convert since the 5 center spikes hold the larger plate in place. The title is a little misleading making it seem that you canxeasily go from 5 to 15 spikes and vice versa as needed on the go. That is definitely not the case since tools are needed to remove the spikes. I will just leave it with the 15 all the time. I think for the money there are better options.

It takes a minute to assemble, but it works great and is already helping my lawn.. the soft handles help with fatige while working the tool.

I've used this lawn aerator three times so far and it has performed amazingly! First, the entire thing, except for the soft foam handle grips, is made of solid metal. I have no worries of this thing breaking! It was also very easy to assemble. You could just assemble it with five spikes instead of the full set of fifteen...but I have no idea why you would want to do that...I would recommend aerating your lawn while it is somewhat wet; soaking wet probably wouldn't be helpful. If the ground is somewhat wet and soft, it's quite easy to insert and remove the spikes. One of the best things included with this set is the scraper (the straight black tool with a wooden handle)! It came in handy so many times! Sometimes the spikes got clogged with leaves, while other times exposed dirt and mud clung to the spikes. A couple quick scrapes and everything was back to normal!And, probably the best thing, was the price! I searched for aerators at my local big-box hardware store and the cheapest one they had was over $50...and I don't think the entire thing was metal, like this one! Over half of my lawn died last summer during a really bad drought so I had to aerate the lawn before I attempted (again) to reseed it. My lawn is about half an acre and it took me about 3-4 hours to aerate all of the dead spots.Overall, I can't recommend this lawn aerator enough! It's the first one I've ever used and I'm confident it'll be the only one I'll ever use (because it'll last forever)!

I learned a lot trying to use this aerator and a second one with three tubes to core rather than the spikes this one has. Neither was a good fit for me (see more info below), but given the build quality and price point, it deserves five stars if used in the right scenario.First, this was easy to put together and feels very durable. An extra bolt set and plastic covers for the nuts were included. It only took about six minutes to assemble. My recommendation is that when you attach the spikes to the base plate, first do the five on each side edge and then the five in the middle, which also serve to attach the base to the handle. It will go faster this way.Overall, the aerator has a good weight, but you will definitely need to step on the plate to get the spikes into the ground unless you are trying to aerate sand. Still, it feels more than durable enough and is designed for you to use your foot to add downward force. It is recommended to ensure the grass is wet since that will make it much easier to get the spikes in, and I agree with that based on my experience.So, why is this not for me? I underestimated how hard and rocky our soil is here in northern Nevada. I often see videos of people digging trenches; all they pull out is dirt (no rocks), and everything is loose. Something about our soil is the exact opposite of that. Even wet, it was tough to get the spikes in. I don't think this is a function of the spikes themselves, which seem fine, but rather that our soil is so hard this can't function as an aerator since I couldn't get it to sink into the ground through the grass.Net, if you have a smaller lawn and non-rock-hard soil, this could be a great value when you don't want to hire a professional crew to do it for you.

Ordered this Lawn Spikes Aerator Tool w/15 Pc Spike Plate - 37" Long Handle w/Soft Grips for my lawn.I have a large pull behind aerator for my garden tractor, but I can't get into close quarter areas to loosen up the our hard soil with it in many areas that need grass. I tried one from a local big box store, but it broke the 2nd time I used it as part of it was plastic and threw it in the trash. Recently while shopping online for some garden items, I saw this aerator that is made of alloy steel, and started reading about it, and about the large foot plate of spikes area.After seeing it has a good strong 500 LB rating, I ordered it. This one is a "keeper"!. Love this aerator as it's built really well. It's really made of strong steel and has 15 - 2.3" spikes that are strong as well. I like the large foot plate as when wearing my big work boots, they fit easily into the foot plate area to sink this baby all way into the ground. It came with all needed bolts and hardware to assemble and was easy to assemble. It came with instructions too. It also came with a nice cleaning tool to clean off the spikes when finished aerating. It also come with a nice T-handle wrench made just for this aerator. It's built well and has a nice black powder coat paint for rust resistance. I used it to aerate all of my bald spots in the yard and sewed grass seed just before a good rain. This is one nice tool that will last me many years. The handles have nice soft handle grips to make the job lots easier. I think it's a very well made tool for the price. Happy with order
