I used it when I crack the nut usually in the winter season from 2023. It is very hard to crack the nuts and finally is broken.

Loved it, especially perfect for when you want to cook your chests in the oven, so easy to peel once cooked

I absolutely love this gadget. From small pecans to jumbo walnuts...with very little effort it cracks the shells without destroying the meat.

This nut cracker is still going strong over a year later, and after being eaten by my dog. The top if the handle is alittle chewed but it cracks any kind of nut with ease. Even the children can use this to crack walnuts. Works excellent with the christmas mixed bag of nuts. Definatelty would buy this again if ours broke or was completely chewed. Would also be a great hostess gift with a bag of nuts and a nice bowl for Christmas.

It works on raw chestnut without using a knife or scissors. I have been looking for a tool and method to open raw chestnuts for years. This one will do the job. It's easy to use but lacks safety considerations. The edge of the tool is rough and sharp. Although I've not gotten any cuts or scratches so far, I still hope the edges are smoother, so it won't scratch or cut my hand accidentally. I found it works on dried shell peanuts too. It helps me to speed up the process of crushing the peanut shells. Yeah!

These are great nutcrackers they work well on hazelnuts as well at walnuts. Easy to use and don’t crush the nuts to bits.

This cracker will open walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, almonds all without issue leaving the entire seed intact. The only problems I had was with Brazil nuts. I cannot fault the cracker for that as the seed was stuck to the inside of the shell every time (This is where a pick would come in handy). The inside of the cracker grips the nut so that it does not slip at all when wedged in... Slight pressure applied creates small cracks so you can get at the "meat". I recommend this to anyone interested in shelling their own nuts.

I boil chestnuts in salt water for 40 minutes. I used to cook them in the oven but I'm finding I like the boiled taste just as well and it is easier as they won't burn. But before you can cook them, they need to be pierced so they don't explode and it needs to be done in such a way that as they cook, the outer skin curls back to make them easier to peel. Traditionally, either the single cross-slit or the "X" cut was made with a sharp or serrated knife, which is hard to do while holding a little curved nut with a smooth shell. This nutcracker makes it much faster, easy, and much safer! Position the nut in the middle of the cracker, and press down hard enough to crack the skin. Don't worry about doing it too hard, it won't spoil the nut. Then cook.I love chestnuts. I wish they were available all year long. They are a very healthy, tasty, filling, and digestible food. I usually wind up just eating them after cooking, but I've also put them into soups and made vegetarian patties and spreads with them. Two more chestnut hints while I'm at it: if you buy them and can't cook them immediately, store them in water in a container in the refrigerator (or a cool place) so they don't dry out. After you cook and peel the chestnut, fuzzy skin may remain on the chestnut and this also is best to peel off. It is not poisonous, and in some varieties of chestnut, not unpleasant to eat; but it is a tough texture and in most varieties of chestnut, it is bitter. A long thin metal tool comes packaged with this nutcracker and it is useful for peeling off the skin. If the skin is badly stuck, a short simmer in fresh water will help to loosen.I'm going to be purchasing more of these to give as gifts to the friends I know enjoy chestnuts as much as I do.
