Let's start with the bad. The mounting bracket is horrible. Usable but just a terrible design. There's several issues I have with it. Mounting screws, adjustment, and overall beefiness. It's very heavy, but so is the light. The light itself is also very large, good and bad, but heavy as well. The colors of the light are limited. Basically all blue, blue with white like daylight, and cool white.Ok, the good. This light cranks PAR. If you like the daylight look on an aquarium and intend to grow freshwater and even saltwater corals, this light will do it. I measured PAR with the light set about 12" above my water line, and 6" below the water line, PAR was about 450. The bottom of my tank, PAR measured 150. This was using the highest setting with blue and whites (daylight). It's large, puts out a lot of PAR, but the mount needs improvement.

The lighting itself is very high quality, and it improves the color of the fish drastically compared to the old light I had. Vibrant colors in my livebearers (reds and blues especially) were instantly more vibrant under this lighting. However, the support beam didn’t seem like it could keep up. The light head itself is so heavy, no matter how I set up the stand, the light was toppling over into the water. I tried attaching it to my 40 gallon, 29 gallon, and 75 gallon tanks to see if the rim of the tank affected it, as well as adjusting the height of the light. None of this helped. At best I could have it rest in a spot that was low and isn’t ideal for the tank lighting, and even in that spot I felt like the smallest shake would knock the whole fixture into the water.

Very impressed with brightness and build quality. Disappointed I have to make an adapter for the clamp to securely affix to my rimmed tank.Pros:-VERY BRIGHT. Many lights just use a lot of LEDs. This light has a lens in it, and a shroud/lampshade thing as well. The effect is a relatively low number of leds creating a ton of light. I think the lens is brilliant, reminds me of lighthouses.-Only 60Ws. And way brighter than any other 60W bulb-Quality construction. Solid metal brackets and light housing. Light itself has a nice weight to it.-Fan to help with cooling, and light housing is aluminum which acts as a heat sink to dissipate the heat.-Adjustable on both axis-Easy to assemble without instructions, but they are in the listing if you need them.Con:CLAMP MADE FOR RIMLESS TANKS. Given the price, and the very good quality of the rest of the unit, I would expect there to be some additional pieces to allow the clamp to work with the ‘standard’ black rimmed Aqueon tanks, or any that have the lip inside for the lid. Something as simple as plastic blocks sized to fit below and above the lip and flush with it (or to slide over the lip) to allow a greater surface area for the clamp to hold against. As it is now, all the pressure would be on the thin lip, and this unit and stand is not light enough to be safe and secure that way.OR, like another review did, the clamp would sit on the lip, meaning that again, only a small portion of the available surface area is being used. This unit is too heavy and too expensive for me to trust it clamped on the way some reviewers have shared.I will likely make something quickly out of wood as a prototype, and then use my libraries 3d printer to make an adapter. Alternatively, I could make a different mounting unit all together.-I have no problem with it being just for rimless, but it should say that in the title. Make it clear that the clamp is designed for rimless tanks only. Since there is no such distinction, I expect there to be some sort of adapter, otherwise people are paying 70-80$ to get a light they have to precariously attach.-Instructions are in the listing, not the manual. This is a high quality light with built in cooling. Price is good.Would be 5 stars if not for the clamp issue.

I’ve been using this AQQA clip-on aquarium light for my 55-gallon African cichlid tank, and it has made a noticeable difference. The light is very bright, enough for a tank this size, and the RGB mode helps bring out the bold colors in the fish. I usually keep it on full spectrum during the day and switch to RGB in the evening for a softer look.Setup was quick, and the adjustable clamp fit securely on the tank rim. The included controller makes it easy to switch between modes and set a timer. I’ve been using the 10-hour cycle, and it has been consistent. The dimming feature is also helpful for adjusting brightness based on the time of day or room lighting. One thing to keep in mind is that the light is strongest in the center. For full coverage across a four-foot tank, the edges may look slightly dimmer. That hasn’t been a big issue for me, but it’s worth noting depending on your setup. The built-in fan is quiet and hasn’t caused any problems so far.It has added a nice visual upgrade to the tank and seems to be supporting both the plants and fish well.
