Does a great job keeping the heat moderated on my 130 gallon salt water reef aquarium. Easy to use, built in thermostat is handy. I like the "protector" that goes around the heating unit. Seems solid.

This heater is really nice! I've used many aquarium heaters through the years and this is the first digital one I've tried. The temperature reading is really accurate, reading to a tenth of a degree. The screen is bright and has good contrast, and setting the temperature is very simple. The buttons are easy to press and make a good click when pressed. One minor complaint is if the system looses power the heater will not save what temperature you last set. This may not be a big problem for most people but if your heater is to large for your tank, you risk coming home to a very warm water temp. When the heater turns on or off, there is a subtle click from the relay but its not very loud at all. The build quality is great, it feels very solid and durable. Overall the functionality is great, it has stayed stuck well to the tank and keeps a really steady temp in the tank so I would recommend this!

AQQA isn't one of the product lines I care for so far, it tends to underperform and/or not last very long. That said, this may not be so disappointing, heaters aren't overly complex devices. The size of this one will keep it in the bigger volume tanks - 100 gallon or more, so I've shelved it for the time being. By the time there is a bubbler, filter pump and then a heater, it doesn't take long to lose a noticeable amount of tank space for the fish. 60 bucks isn't an expensive price for a unit with these capacities, just depends on how long it lasts, and/or gets gunked up enough to need cleaned.

I got the 800W, 80-250 gallon heater for my 120 gallon tank. This was super easy to set up, with the only thing I had to do was attach the suction cups to the back, put it in the back of my tank on a 30-45d angle and gently press it against the back wall. The suction cups are very effective. I set the temperature that I wanted (77F for my community tank) and it currently reads 77.3F which I have verified that by an alternative thermometer. It is so much easier to use than the old style glass poles with the temp dial on top that you have to keep fiddling with, the guess work is gone.It is center back on an angle (as per the instructions) in my tank and if I am honest, I wish it didn't need to be, I prefer things to be at the sides. That said, what I really want is for my fish to be at the right temperature! It looks smart and sleek and the fish seem to be playing around it a fair bit with the smaller fish swimming behind it.Please do read the instructions for safety so that you get things right when you do water changes, letting it cool for a while etc.Very happy with this so far and happy to recommend.

This is the second AQQA brand aquarium heater that I have owned, and I like both of them. The first one I bought a couple years ago and it is still in service in my show tank, and it holds temperature rock solid year-round at the 79° set point. The second one I got because when I’m doing water changes on my tank, I like to get a 55 gallon plastic trash can and fill it with water the day before, put in my dechlor, and then I put a heater and an air stone in it overnight, to prep the water for putting in the tank the next day with as ideal conditions as possible to not shock the fish from temp changes.I tested this out by filling the trash can with water to the top. Set this in and set the temperature at approximately 80°. The water temperature at the time i started (which displays on there) was 59 degrees, and you can actually see the energy output at the top of the display that tells you essentially how hard it is working to keep the water warm. I went and ran a few errands and when I came back about 4 hours later, the temperature was already up to 80° and it was holding steady. I saw that the power output reading on the top had went to zero because it wasn’t having to run to maintain that temperature. The next morning it was still holding temp within 1 degree. What I like about that variable energy output ability is it won’t work as hard or cycle as hard if it has the ability to put a moderate amount of energy to maintain a water temperature, vs. the heaters that just basically turn on and off and are full energy and zero energy back-and-forth, that tend to cause more temperature cycling in the tank and wear out quicker.Having good experience with two different models AQQA brand heaters, I would definitely recommend them and I really like this one.
