I got this to change the substrate in my tank from gravel to sand. It saved me a lot of time by being able to just scoop and sift at the same time, I love this thing. Not too sure about the scooping sand part, its not gonna separate the detritis from the sand, but it can sift the sand for air pockets!

I would not purchase this for anything more than a 20 gallon aquarium. I have a 125 gallon aquarium with lots of gravel and I would be all day scooping gravel with this tiny scoop. Don't get me wrong.....its well made and does work....its a fine product.....just not sure large scale aquariums.
