I bought this for holding down pieces of wood while chiseling out dovetail joints. It is attached to my 3/8" thick steel welding table and i use a 2x6 like a chopping block. The length of it lets me clamp pretty thick objects securely to the table. Due to the length of it you need a seriously large drill press to accomodate the 6" radius, I never intended to use it on a drill press so i am happy. The reason for only 4 stars is it is hard to close the clamp, it gets harder as you increase the pressure of course and as you clamp thicker objects. I have strong enough hands to close it one handed but it can be a little painful when you turn up the pressure, many people will need to use 2 hands. A longer handle for more leverage would do wonders for this tool. I would certainly still reccomend this.

Purchased a new welder table, this is the perfect accessory, adjustable height, applies enough pressure that parts don't move. Delivered the next day

I really like this clamp and it's one of the better tool buys I've done in a long time. I'm dinging it to four stars for niggling reasons: 1) For what it is and where it's made, honestly the price is way too high, at least here on Amazon. Check around locally to see if anybody carries it and you'll likely find it for twenty-six or so. I could have saved eight bucks if I'd checked first. 2) Considering the first point, for this asking price the tool should be a little better finished, but as-is it's pretty nice and nothing to complain about or that will require work on your part. The eye bolt threads are 1/2-13 UNC coarse...in an answer here someone stated it had the fine 20 thread but that's not how mine is - might be important to someone. The threads are "sloppy", but this is a desirable thing for a tool like this. I put a die on the male threads to loosen them up a little bit as they were just slightly too tight after coating the metal so that the eye bolt didn't spin super freely, and I tapered its end a little. Now it spins great and is very easy to spin on from beneath the table. The clamp pad has just enough tension to hold its position, which is great since some of the cheap non-auto-adjust clamps let the pad drop down loosely, requiring you to use your other hand to move it when applying pressure. The rubber cover seems durable enough and is a nice item to include. It will start to shift itself off of the pad with repetitive use so keep an eye on that if it matters and you're doing more than a handful of holes at a time. If the cover encircled the pad like a snap on can lid it would fix that problem...if this is even a problem really. The pressure adjusting screw is left-hand thread. I'm finding that for quicker adjustment to a light pressure (and to get an even lighter pressure where that's ok) it's just easier to unthread the eyebolt a few turns rather than fiddle with the screw. All in all this is just a really great and convenient clamp, excellent variation on an age-old theme, glad I bought it. If I were to change something it might be to reduce the angle of the main (bottom) handle so it was closer to parallel with the table, and altering the clamp jaw to have a touch more height capacity would be nice. This clamps well enough that it might start getting more use than my various vises for anything object with a flat surface. I hope this holds up well over time but if it doesn't I'm pretty sure I'd buy another anyway (hopefully at a cheaper local price...).

This is pretty much the ultimate drill press clamp. It is sturdy and well built, has easy one-handed operation, and it fully adjustable. The auto adjusting system works so well, and the rubber pad on the clamp prevents marring your project, however they are removable if you so desire. This is without a doubt the best drill press clamp on the market. Also, if the t-grooves in your drill press table are too shallow to fit the large ring, it comes with a short screw that will work with any table, but you need a Philips head screwdriver to adjust it. While it is a bit more pricey than some competitors, the features, durability, and and quality more than make up for it. You will not be disappointed.

Ever since I purchased the Kreg Adaptive Cutting table, I've been going bench clamp crazy. I've reviewed the Kreg and Milescraft version, but now I think I'm going to return them all and settle on this Armor Tool version. Milescraft 6 inch clamp is about $27 (no auto-adjust), but you need to buy the bench-lock which is $10. If you want to buy the Kreg 6 inch version, you'd need to spend $40 + $23 for the base. So between those two, you're paying a premium for Kreg's auto-adjust feature. Then I discovered this Armor Tool version which is priced at $37 currently, it has the auto-adjust feature and includes the bottom locking base. Unlike the bases of the other two brands, which are made of plastic, the Armor Tool base is a nice hefty chunk of metal. All three versions tout 360-degree turn, but I found out that only the Armor Tool version remains nice and tight while you're turning. With Kreg and Milescraft, you need to loosen the knob under your table, creating wiggle, you then need to retighten. But with the Armor Tool version, you can rotate while your base remains nice and tight. You're basically screwing and unscrewing the clamp. Keep going clockwise, and eventually, it's too tight, keep going counter and eventually it comes off. But there is a sweet spot where either way you turn, everything is tight and stable. No need to reach under the table to retighten clamp. Of all 3 brands, I think this one is the sweet spot for me in terms of price and features. One caveat... Though the base is a nice chunk of metal, the clamp itself is less robust than Kreg and Milescraft. More metal on the other two, all the parts that make up their clamp seem to be bigger and thicker than the Armor Tool. I'm guessing it's because Armor Tool is marketing this towards drill presses as well. These types of clamps for drill presses seem to have a thinner smaller profile. You can buy the ones specifically made for a drill press at harbor freight for less than $10. It is a white label item, meaning other companies such as Wen, Powertec sells them too under their own names. But make no mistake, it is not the same clamp or quality as the Armor Tool and doesn't work well at a large work surface because they are made very low to the table, so your fingers have no clearance to grip the bottom handle. They are designed specifically for small drill press tables where the handle will overhang from the edge so your hands can grab it. The metal ring base looks similar too, but it is less robust and smaller in diameter than the armor tool metal base. They also do not have an auto-adjust feature, nor do they have any padding on the handles or clamp ends. If you're curious about this clamp, go to Harbor Freight, or search Amazon for "9 inch drill press clamp." BTW, 9 inch for this clamp does not mean the reach, it means the entire length of clamp. So overall, it is a much smaller clamp than the Armor Tool.

Purchased this for my drill press but it’s too large we careful when ordering I have to order the 3 inch and see if that’s the right size. I’m using a WEN 4212 drill press

Purchased a kreg first, then got this one. Hands down the best. Feels beefier, strong clamping force.

This clamp is AMAZING. A must have for anyany woodworker, crafter, or maker of any kind. We only have so many hands when working in the shop, and this clamp adds just what you need. It built very durable and offers an extremely tight grip on your project while not scratching or marring it. It allows for a quick release as well to adjust.

The clamping force is adjusted by a knurled knob that is (apparently) kept from losing its position by a spring, which makes the tiny (about 5/16" diameter) knob difficult to turn and hard on the fingers. When the spring is fully compressed, it prevents any further adjustment, meaning that only the higher end of the clamping force range is accessible. This defect may be readily addressed by simply removing the spring. Oddly, the adjusting screw has a left-hand thread, so that I find myself turning it in the opposite direction of what I intended. The clamp does work, and clamps pretty hard, but more gentle clamping pressures are not obtainable, at least on my sample, without performing the simple modification described above.
