These do a pretty good job, but they wear out really fast. 7500 sq ft lawn will require 2 sets.

These wear out fast, but do a great job. I usually get just over ½ acre out of a pair. Easy to install and change out, and they really get rid of all the thatch from the previous year.

I wore out the original set and needed new ones. These were an exact replacement. Way better than renting a de-thatcher. I can control how much I want to take out by raising & lowering the lawn mower and how slow or fast I move over the area. I used this method on the west side of the yard several years ago and it worked really well. I took the lawn down to dirt and evened it all out. I used it on the east curbing area this year with the new springs and will use them again next year.

The springs were accurately represented and were a perfect replacement match for my de-thatching blade. These used to be available locally but are now only available online and the older-style de-thatching blade is also no longer locally available but is online. Now the home centers carry a cheaper type with short albeit replaceable plastic prongs, for about $30 in my locale. But these metal spring prongs do a great job and last a long time. This year I was without my de-thatching blade because the springs were worn and one of them broke, so I rented a gas-powered de-thatching machine for only $25 locally and it it did a good job but was a bit too aggressive and left a few scalped lawn areas that I needed to re-plant. And the machine was VERY heavy. The de-thatching blade installed on a standard mower is much easier to control, and a mower with a throttle control is best in order to utilize maximum power for de-thatching.

Here's how I use this: I cut the grass normally but extremely short on my lowest setting (deck barely clears the lawn), already creating lots of bags of clippings. Then I go back over with the spring blade attached just barely catching the grass (if any deeper, it creates circles in the lawn - you'll know what I mean). I have to readjust the depth as the springs wear to keep the raking working.

I ordered the springs as a safety measure after ordering the Maxpower 330100 to de-thatch my St. Augustine lawn. I am not going to use the blade, so the springs are simply not needed.

A power rake lawn mower blade requires 2 of these little springs in order to function properly. I seem to lose or break at least one of these little buggers every year, resulting in mower vibration and, obviously, lousy operation. This year I decided to purchase the replacement parts BEFORE they were needed, but I couldn't find any of them locally. The price on Amazon was fair and the delivery was excellent. Naturally, I did NOT lose or break anything this year, but now I am all set for next year.

These springs worked great as dethatching tines on the mower blade. They didn't hurt the lawn at all and did a great job removing the thatch and lifting the old leaves. It even dislodged the half buried buckeyes.Just don't run over anything hard like roots or rocks because the springs will snap off or bend out of position.Excellent price for the work it saves you. Easy to install and replace.
