The Modified Achromatic design features an optical advancement over the traditional Kellner and gives sharp, faithful lunar, planetary, and deep-space images.

  • dust caps
  • sturdy cardboard box

1

The blackening treatment of the edge of the lens can effectively prevent the reflection and achieve the maximum contrast, which is conducive to planetary observation.

1

Sleek silver lens barrel with safety undercut reduces the possibility of the eyepiece slipping out of the telescope or diagonal, increasing the stability of the connection.

1

The intimate rubber traction ring design can increase the friction, so that it is easy to grasp and not easy to slip off.

I am using this eyepiece on a 10" 4.5 Newtonian reflector. The Astromania 2" Kellner FMC 55-Degree Eyepiece - 26mm - Wide Field gives pin-point stars from one edge to the other. Even in light-polluted skies, the background is deep black and shows sharp contrast. It is an unbelievably great value. I paid $47.99. Wow.

This review is for the Astromania 40mm 2" Kellner eyepiece. This is a very well made packed and shipped eyepiece that feels high quality; just metal and glass. The coatings look good. The apparent field of view is great. Make sure that your eyes are well dark adapted because the exit pupil is large. It has enough eye relief to use glasses with it. But, the one issue is that the field is not flat, this suffers from a lot of coma near the outer third of the field; stars near the edges are completely distorted. My old 1.25" Meade 40mm Plossl is much flatter and better although the apparent field is tiny compared to this eyepiece. I hovered between 3 and 4 stars for this, but gave it 4 because thus far I have only tested it on my Celestron 127mm refractor. Just something to be aware of.

I use on a 12 inch reflector telescope, it is my favorite eyepiece. It provides good general overview of deep sky objects. Orion Nebula fits, and there is room to spare. Not recommended to view planets, they look tiny!
