About this item

  • Attachment that allows a camera to be attached to your telescopes; the camera side of the Deluxe Tele-Extender accepts a standard T-ring "sold separately"
  • Allows you to take pictures through an eyepiece; for high magnification shots of the Moon planets and Sun "with the proper filtration"
  • By using the Deluxe Tele-Extender in combination with an eyepiece; you can increase your instrument’s effective focal length to well over 10000mm
  • Accepts a wide range of 1.25" eyepieces; including the Omni series; the eyepiece must have a diameter smaller than 45 mm; which is the inside diameter of the Tele-Extender
  • The image is not the only thing that will be magnified when doing eyepiece projection photography; any problems with seeing conditions will become much more apparent; as will unintended movements of the telescope

How to Install Astromania Deluxe Tele Extender?

To use the Deluxe Tele-Extender, remove the diagonal or any other accessories attached to the visual back of your telescope. Insert the 1.25” eyepiece you want to use into the visual back and lock it firmly into place with one of the setscrews. The eyepiece must have a diameter smaller than 45mm, which is the inside diameter of the Tele-Extender. Many eyepieces are too large, so double-check the fit before you begin your astrophotography session. For the most secure connection, remove the second thumbscrew from the visual back body and then slide the Tele-Extender over the inserted eyepiece as well as the visual back. When engaged, the two thumbscrews on the Tele-Extender clamp onto the visual back to hold everything firmly in place, assisted by a safety shield that keeps the thumbscrews from loosening during use.

By using the Deluxe Tele-Extender in combination with an eyepiece, you can increase your instrument’s effective focal length to well over 10,000mm! And this corresponds with a matching increase in image size. This technique is known as eyepiece projection photography. The following formula can be used to determine approximate effective focal length:

EFL = Telescope focal length/Eyepiece focal length x DF (the distance from the center of the eyepiece to the film).

Arrived on time, in one day, and nicely wrapped and packaged. No instructions included, but the ad on Amazon has all the information that you need to get up and running. Has the look and feel of the tele-extender sold by Celestron at more than twice the price. Works perfectly for eyepiece projection astrophotography. You will need a T-piece if you intend to use it with a DSLR.

i do not recommend this product.1. i do not trust the connection to the dslr, just a slight tug on the camera and it will come off of the tele-extender.2. attempted to focus on the moon, saturn and jupiter with a variety of lenses, zero success.i will try again later but for now, i am disappointed. was very excited to use the lenses to photograph the moon up close.

Dont buy i just finished spending 3 hours trying to get this peice to work. It says in the discription that it will fit over the visual back and you van screw in the set screw to prevent movement. However it will not fit over the visual backs of either of my telescopes. Also i cannot use any eyepeices with this because of this issue. I can remove the visual back and put it into the telescope like an eyepeice, but no magnification is achieved. This is completly useless.

This extender is much better than a couple of alternative extenders in the market. The main advantage is it can be securely attached to the telescope without much work or any risk of coming loose.

Perhaps I’m doing something wrong or expecting more but I cannot get this to fit properly or establish focus on my Celestron Nexstar 8se. Product does not come with useful instructions.

i had to pull one of the screws that holds the lens in because the end is only made for one screw, but it works :)
