My vinyl liner pool vacuum head broke after 3 years and I was never really happy using it, vacuuming was a chore and the piece that fits into pool was plastic and broke. So I did some research and also through experience decided to try this product. I was very pleasantly surprised that it worked excellently with very little effort and no resistance to move along the pool bottom. Metal pole adapter is great, no plastic to break. I was reluctant that there were no brushes on the base but this proved not to be an issue. We have a pole mounted brush to work on any stubborn spots, however a balanced water system does not allow algae growth.I love this unit and actually decided not to buy a automatic cleaner because it was so easy to work with.

I got this product, and used the same day. Let me tell you, it was a like a dream come true. Some history....I have had the Heyward triangular vacuum head for 5 seasons (in Michigan it's seasons, not years). It's the vacuum head that the bristles always break completely off after a season or two, and the replacement brushes are about $35. I never left the vacuum head in the sun, always in the shade. Not knowing much about this subject, or wanting to take a chance on another brand of vacuum head, I would reluctantly purchase the replacement brushes, knowing that they would all break off relatively soon. Finally, I had had enough of this extremely frustrating way of vacuuming, as the Heyward is not the quickest or easiest thing to use.So, I started to look at other alternatives, and found this Pool Supply Town model to be quite highly reviewed, and figured I'd give it a try. I read most of the reviews, and followed everyone's advice on making sure all the screws and nuts were tight before using (they were pretty tight, but they all moved about a 1/2 turn to full turn). It is quite heavy, which helps it sit on the floor or wall of the pool very easily ( I do not have to push it down to the bottom). I hooked up the vacuum hose to it, and wondered how much suction it would have, as it appears to just be a flat head with a hole in the middle for the hose. Well, it sucked my hand right to the hole, making me now a little afraid that it would suction itself to the bottom of the pool. So I carefully placed it down in the shallow end, and it did not get stuck to the floor. I started moving it a little, and instantly I noticed how incredibly easy the vacuum head moves around with those wheels. I literally was able to extend the pole out to about 14', and I was holding on to the very end of the pole with 3 fingers, and could moved the vacuum head around as if it were not even there. I could not have been more amazed at how effortless it was to use. And the head is very flexible as I was able to vacuum where the corners meet in the deep end by having half the vacuum head on each wall of the corners. I literally vacuum my pool in about 5 minutes (granted there was not a lot to suck up, but I got the entire floor of the deep end, all the corner edges, and some of the shallow end). I didn't have to pick up the vacuum head at all, as I could just walk around the entire pool and just keep rolling the head around as I went. This product works amazingly simple, and very effective (at least for me). I would not hesitate to buy it again, and would definitely recommend it to anyone. I figured that I don't need a vacuum with brushes, as I don't brush the pool with the vacuum head, as that takes an extremely long time. That is why I bought this item....because I just wanted a vacuum.

I have purchased hundreds of items on Amazon and never posted a review. Always thought it was unnecessary and I had nothing to add. This is the exception to that rule. I have been vacuuming my 30,000 gallon vinyl pool for 20+ years with a brush type vacuum that's recommended for vinyl pools. I hated to vacuum as it was so labor and time intensive. I purchased this vacuum head after reading the reviews, and wish I had done it 20 years ago. It is now a pleasure to vacuum my pool. This vacuum head is HEAVY! It's weight keeps it on the bottom of the pool, but the rollers allow it to vacuum the sides easily. I have been using it for several months and have not had any problems with the pool liner with its use.I highly recommend this vacuum head on liner pools. It's a well built head that works extremely well and I anticipate years of use due to the quality of the build.

Only used it a couple times so far, so can't comment on durability, but compared to the similarly priced cheapo unit the online pool supply stores carry it seems way higher quality. Instead of a plastic pin going thru a wheel with spacers on each side (which kept falling off on the old one I had), this model has a nut and bolt to hold the wheels on... and instead of plastic spacers it has ball bearings... also, this unit has some weight to it so it doesn't want to lift off the bottom of the pool when pushing it. Overall I like the way this one feels a lot better when using it. The ball bearing wheels roll very smoothly.I did take 1 star off though, because out of the package mine had 1 wheel that didn't roll. Apparently the ball bearings were not installed correctly, and when I removed the wheel to try to figure out what the problem was, bearings when everywhere. So be warned, do NOT take a wheel off unless you have to, and then be careful as it will come apart and you'll have to fight with it to get the bearings back in like I did. I got all but 1 of the bearings to go back into the unit, but it still seemed to roll fine with 1 bearing short, so I just gave up fighting with the wheel and accepted that was the best I could get it.But again, despite that issue, I would still buy this again, as it actually feels significantly smoother rolling across the pool floor compared to what the pool stores offer for roughly the same price.

Recommend highly. Was looking to replace my 10 yr old pool master vacuum head after the plastic where the bolt holding the metal neck to the head tore through. No complaints as I certainly got my money's worth out of it. I have a gunite pool which is 7 ft plus in the deep end. The only problem with my 4 weight vacuum head was it had a tendency to lift up in the deep end and required a little downward pressure to keep it on the bottom so I wanted something a little heavier. When I saw the shipping weight on this 6 weight head I thought it might actually be too heavy but turns out it is just right. The rollers are very smooth and the head is just the right height off the bottom. The head is well made and has one nice feature I wasn't expecting. The neck is two-piece with a swivel joint so when the pole ends up at an angle to the head it does not put additional stress on the plastic head where the neck bolts to the head. If my old head had that feature it might still be going. I started out looking for something in the $20-25 range but it is definitely worth paying the extra to get a heavy duty head like this one which should last another 10 yrs.
