Used this to replace an older rod holder base from the same company. This base is much more rugged with much less deflection under load. The new base does take up more room and the fastener spacing is different than the old mounts so you will need to drill new holes to attach this mount.

The mount itself is very well made, and my rod holder is going exactly nowhere while it is attached. However, the rotating system within the mount can be a bit awkward. I use these on a kayak, so it's tough to get a lot of leverage on the rod holder while you're seated. You have to jiggle it around a bit to get it to twist or detach sometimes. However, that is a small price to pay for what I consider to be a very sturdy system. Also, when you mount these things, be aware that the mount has a small groove on on side where you can insert the holder. Be sure to take that into consideration before you attach it--moving the holders around with rods in them can be difficult if you have to be conscious of where the groove is on one versus another. Overall, I am very pleased.

These mounts from Attwood for their rod holders & extension's are the best on the market (IMHO). Remember, you should not mix base's or extension's from other manufacturers, I learned this lesson the expensive hard way: lost my rod holder, rod & reel, not to mention my favorite lure & a nice salmon when the works came right out of the base went for a swim when said nice salmon slammed my lure.I would rather have these base's come with the rod holders than those that come with the pack. you can mount these just about anywhere, they raise the holder a little higher for more clearance.These Base's are versatile and very tough!!!!
