Replaced a cheap $20 Equus fuel gauge in a 74 Jeep CJ 5. Auto Meter fuel gauge works well and is much smoother with far less fluctuations than the Equus gauge which quit working after a couple of years. The gauge itself appears much better built and is heavier with more solid electrical connections than the cheaper gauges. Unfortunately, the fuel gauge itself is not resistant to moisture at all. With the doors off the Jeep the gauge fogs up at night with the temperature around 50 degrees. This is happening on a clear crisp night. None of the other gauges-oil pressure, temperature, ammeter gauges, speedometer fog up. Auto Meter is a much more expensive gauge with a great reputation for quality. I may have to remove the gauge and return it to Amazon if Auto Meter tells me the gauge should not fog up. Very disappointing for a relatively expensive fuel gauge.
