Fits bottles pretty well without leaks. You definitely can’t use too big of a bottle or else I don’t think it would support the weight but it works good for my small 5 gallon tank. Wasn’t hard to figure out. Wouldn’t recommend for large tanks though.

So far it is working perfectly.I was worried that my aquarium water level would get too low while on vacation. It has a skim on top type filter, & with the dry weather where I live, I am having to add water due to evaporation weekly. This is just the fix! Will update if there are any issues, but so far I was able to attach a 33.8oz Smart Water bottle filled with treated aquarium water and have it fit perfectly.Would recommend.

Auto Top Off Water Filler - Aquarium Mini ATO System, Water Filler & Level Controller with Float Valve - Easy to Install, Durable & No Wiring Needed - Perfect for Fish Tank & Turtle TankThis is a simple design taking advantage of basic scientific principles to make a low tech solution for maintaining a tank level when you are away. The key is to make sure that no air is getting into bottle. At first the water was free flowing from the bottle into the tank despite setting up everything as instructed. Most plastic bottles have a channel down through the screw top. This channel allows air to enter the bottle. I used some teflon tape on the bottle and on the adapter to make sure all connections were air tight. It worked really well as I keep my tank with a high waterline. I did use the tubing, but it never seemed to use that to maintain the water level. Instead, it maintained the water level at the bottom of the dispenser. Which was fine because that matched with where I keep the tank level.I am guessing that either I did not use enough teflon tape or that the tube connection is leaking. This is an elegant solution to the problem of keeping your tank level stable.

The Auto Top Off Water Filler has been a decent addition to my aquarium setup, but it does come with a few drawbacks that hold it back from being perfect. The concept and design are simple and straightforward, which I appreciate—there’s no wiring needed, and installation was quick and hassle-free. The float valve mechanism works as advertised, maintaining a consistent water level in my fish tank without much effort on my part. However, I’ve found that the durability isn’t quite up to par. After a few weeks of use, the float valve started to feel less reliable, and I’ve had to adjust it a few times to ensure it works properly. It’s not a huge issue, but it does require more attention than I expected for an “automatic” system. Another downside is that the materials feel a bit flimsy. While it gets the job done, I’m unsure how long it will last with regular use. For the price, I was hoping for something a bit sturdier. It’s also worth noting that the system is better suited for smaller tanks—I wouldn’t recommend it for larger setups or high-maintenance aquariums.

This top off system is entirely mechanical in spite of the description mentioning 12v and DC. It's affordable and worked surprisingly well. The instructions were really poor, pretty much have to figure it out yourself. Be careful cutting the length for the 2 tubes, there are no extras for you to try again. The short tube you will cut is based on where you want the water level to be and the longer tube goes down well below the tank's water line. The way this works is once the water drops enough to expose the shorter tube to air, that lets water flow from the bottle until the short tube is submerged again, rather ingenious. This works well, if you have a tiny/smaller tank. If your tank is 10 gallons or larger, you're going to be refilling that water bottle often. At that point, you might as well just invest in an electronic auto top system that you can connect to a 5 gallon reservoir.

I got this ATO gadget to keep my rimless 7gal tank topped off and it does that. Simple to use with a standard 16oz soda bottle (make sure you rinse it well with vinegar and RODI water!)

Something so simple... Doesn't work. The holes are too small to create an airflow, maybe if the litter bottle is full there's enough down force, but once it levels off it rarely lets air back up when the water level is low again .
