I have a small 3M foam block that I'd grown to love for it's incredible feel, but has been discontinued for quite some time. I wasn't thrilled to pay the +$30 asking price for a new Hookit block. These blocks seemed like a practical, inexpensive alternative as they accommodate a standard 5" sanding disc. Repositioning and optimization is more flexible than with a rectangular sheet. Both blocks are functional and lightweight. They're too stiff to get into detailed sections/concave contours as well as my old block. For the price, I was expecting more of a sponge-like feel. These blocks are adequate for rough sanding or planar/convex surfaces. It's not likely that the foam consistency will improve over time, but I hope that I'll eventually get accustomed to their feel.

Using the 2" size of these on wood turning projects.- The foam is firm but flexible and has stood up to some abuse without tearing.- Paper remains well attached and doesn't shift.- Size is exactly correct - so I try to either carefully center the paper or deliberately offset it a pinch for working inside radiuses.- I appreciate there being 2 in the pack - I can use one for coarse grits and sanding and reserve the other for fine grits and polishing (minimizing grit contamination which can cause scratches to finishes)

These work with 5” random orbital sander sheets. For years I’ve just used a block of wood but I had to buy full sheet sandpaper separately. With these I can buy big boxes of ROS sandpaper and use the same supply for both power and hand sanding. The blocks are soft and fit the hands well with their finger detents. The have the same Velcro backing your sander does.

This is a really handy idea. Typically I have a lot of sanding discs rather than a lot of sheet sandpaper. With these hand sanding blocks you can quickly sand by hand if you have a small sanding task, without getting out your sander and setting it up. It is easy to use, comfortable in the hand, and the best part is that sanding discs stay firmly in place while you are sanding. You can use any 5 inch disc with a hook and loop backing, no mater the hole spacing or number. These are inexpensive and look well made. I suspect they will last a long time.

This is just what I was looking for. I've got hundreds of 5" round sheets for my RO sander, but sometimes you just can't use the power sander for the job. These are great for using the exact same sheets, but using them by hand. The hook and loop holds the papers firmly in place, and they're sturdy enough to get nice firm contact with what you're sanding. Getting two at this price point is a great value, either use two in your shop at once in different locations, or you've got a backup!

For many years, I used plain old bare sandpaper or a homemade sanding block, and while those still have their purposes, I started using one of these "mouse" style sanding blocks that use 5" velcro sanding discs. They're so much nicer to use--easier to grip, the sandpaper doesn't shift around, and they have the right amount of give to them. But since I had only one of them, I was always having to remove and reapply sandpaper as I changed grits, so I ordered this set of two. Now I have can have three different grits of sanding discs at the ready.These mouse sanding blocks are identical to the one I already had. The black hook portion of the block that grips the sanding disc seems well attached to the yellow foam of the sanding block. And, most importantly, the bottom surface of the sanding block that backs up the sanding disc is nice and flat (I've seen some where there's a bulge in the middle, making the block all but useless for sanding flat items).Hopefully these will hold up as well as the one I already have. If they don't, I'll be sure to update this review accordingly.

These aren't 5" as claimed. Your discs will hang over the edge. At this price point you might a well buy a name brand version, as they will fit correctly for the same price.

I'm both a graduate degree'd engineer who greatly appreciates well designed tools and also the owner of a handyman business who uses his tools daily to earn a living. With that as background ...Sometimes a cheap, simple tool is so much better than whatever I was doing previously that I'd never want to do without it again. This is one of those tools. These very simple sanding blocks use the same round paper as my 5" orbital sander, so only one type of sandpaper to stock. The disc sandpaper extends over the sides of the sanding "mouse" so the sides can also be used to sand. The block is a relatively firm firm, which is perfect for most tasks I have for a sanding block. It's firmer than the typical sanding sponge, but obviously less firm that the scrap block of wood I'd have used previous to getting this tool. The sanding block fits my hand perfectly and is very easy to grip, in part due to the very grippy sandpaper extending up the sides. The yellow color is easily located in a cluttered shop or jobsite. The hook'n loop attachment has proven very durable on other sanders and this looks to be no different.Absolutely love this cheap, simple product and an easy 5 stars from this reviewer.
