Sure the new K's are not the same, but they certainly sound great. I can't give 4 stars but am close due to some of the frequencies not being ideal, say compared to Meinls. These newer K's just have a certain brilliance frequency that is not 100% appealing, but overall, in the mix, everywhere, soft hits, loud hits.. just all around great.

Got this with a set of 14" K hats from another seller, put them with my 5 year old 18" K Med. Thin crash and 3 year old 22" ride. They finally all found each other and are one big happy family. It's remarkably thinner than my 18" though...so if you want that dark tone AND the punch the 17" is pushing it. If you don't mic your drums, a little further.

Fell in love with this cymbal after the first time i played it. I usually play a custom cymbals but i love this one as well. I bought a 16 inch k medium thin crash over a year ago for the church i play at and i decided to get this one back in February of this year and i love it!!!!!

This is one of my favorite cymbals, it sound very nice, i have another Zildjian reference but this is the best.

The K 18-Inch Dark Crash Medium Thin is a fantastic cymbal. It gave me a lot of warmth mixed with just a touch of brightness. It's my style, but everyone is different with taste. What I can say that is universally helpful, is that the cymbal is evenly toned. No warps or bends in pitch. It has a consistent wash, and is made of high-grade bronze. You can't go wrong with Zildjian!
