Works great to hold the kayaks in. I do recommend going to Walmart and spending 10 to 20 bucks for some new ratchet straps as the hooks on these yellow ones that come with the set up are very short so it didn’t make me feel super secure about using those, but the rest of the set up works great! The amount of time it took was maybe an hour to install all four holders a-top my other two crossbars I purchased. You do need two cross bars if you plan to install these on a 2018 crosstrek, or alike car.We haven’t had any issues with any of the pieces breaking or falling apart, and we have used them for solidly for two years already. We live in PacNw, so two years is really two summers (3-4 months each, 6-8 months of consistent use). I also have not lost any of the screws as we drive down the road, so all good things!Again, I do recommend going to Walmart and getting ratchet straps that have a longer, wider hook. I have not a lot of confidence in the supplied shorter yellow hooks that come with this purchase, not to say they will not work for you. We did use the yellow straps once and went up into the mountains and they held fine, but I feel way more confident, having the elongated hooks walmart sells that hook perfectly around each mount bar.Definitely recommend this purchase.-easy install (takes a little time though with all the nuts and bolts)-holds up well-long lasting-my kayaks are each 50lbs, both fit on these like a dream-every piece (minus straps) makes securing your kayaks A BREEZE

These mounted well in the OEM ascent cross bars, easy to put on and take off. It will take a while to workout how to strap down and mount kayaks but easy once you have.Can’t speak of longevity but they are painted steel so imagine they might rust eventually.The ratchet straps are fine, I cut mine down shorter to make sure the loose tails didn’t get caught up. I didn’t use the tow hook strings.

I installed this on our vehicle in hopes to use it for our paddleboards. Install was easy, however getting the paddleboards on this and and securing them was not. These are certainly better suited for Kayaks I assume.

Easy to install; mounting went well too. Just drove 5 hours with kayaks on the roof and no issues at highway speeds or in town. I really like the stern rope system for keeping them in place at the front/back, as well as the ratchet straps. Costs a little more than others but very sturdy and easy to work with.

So the product itself is well made and great quality. The mounting hardware was my slight headache. So the plastic screws that mount the racks to your roof rack will not tighten enough for windy days. It will not fly off the vehicle but they will and can move side to side, but the system comes with standard nuts use those if you plan on ever going above 35 MPH. My only complaint besides the movement with the plastic nuts which in honesty isn’t the most secure at baseline in any product. The length of the mounting hardware is long for my low profile roof rack. So getting a ratcheting 13mm box wrench out after tightening the nut was a bit of a pain as I need to loosen my roof rack to raise it to not destroy my paint. Yet, those with normal roof racks should be fine and if you have a low pro roof rack like mine open box wrench is your friend or cut down the bolts. Yet, this is a universal system that works great and will any universal system you have to adjust to your needs.
