At first I was excited to get the rack because it could assume varying positions to accommodate different kayaks . IT worked for one kayak, but in transporting a second kayak on a different date the two rack broke. One rack bar snapped completely in half. This caused the kayak to swing off the roof in a dangerous manner and caused damage to the side of the car. I was lucky it was on a side road where I could turn off and was under 40mph. I do not recommend this rack. It is dangerous and should not be sold. It will break on you and you will lose your kayak. Be safe and invest in something better. On a side note there is no customer support or way to contact the company that makes this. I have tried a number of times and ways. No support for their product at all!

I needed fold-down racks because I keep my car in a garage and these fit the bill without costing an arm and a leg. Easy to mount and push button control to fold flat or up into a number of positions. Plenty strong for my needs. Follow the instructions and re-tighten the racks periodically as the plastic hand nuts that tighten onto the cross-bars need snugging up from time to time.

This is a great product for transporting a kayak. Was simple to install and worked well for a three hour trip! We did add extra rope to tie it down due to distance, but no issues! I love that it folds down so you don’t need to remove the racks when not using!

These racks are very flimsy and do not support heavier kayaks. My kayak is around 46lbs and at anything more than 40mph, the kayak was bouncing around on them. Secondly, do not assume these are a "universal" fit. They only fit small cross bars, and are only truly designed for Vault Cargo's crossbars (which is not very clear in the listing). I don't recommend these for anything over a small, light kayak and for the price of these plus the cross bars, you can get a much better quality product.

Consigliato.

These racks are really only "universal" in the sense that if you screw the clamp down tight enough, it _should_ be able to hold on tight enough to your crossbars to let you transport your kayak. In reality, these were designed to work with square crossbars of a specific size. If you have round or oval crossbars you're forced to do the equivalent of using a screw like a nail because the only tool you have is a hammer. But if you're cool with that, they seem to be otherwise well built for the price. Also, the included installation instructions are hilariously awful. They literally read as follows (my notes in parens):Step 1: Check all parts and accessories. (Yet they give you no parts list to check against)Step 2: Affix and screw on the roof car rack. (Um… ok. How? Seriously, can you provide any detail whatsoever? No? OK, I guess I'll go figure it out on my own)Step 3: Attach the kayak/canoe onto rack with the provided lashing straps. (See the notes for step 2)Seriously, that's it. Their assembly and use instructions are essentially just "Assemble it and use it."

These were easy to install and simple to use. My only concern is that the gears may wear out after some use. I say that because they are plastic & need adjustment after each use. It's important to note that there is nothing wrong with the quality of this product, but knowing what the material is made of, it may not last as long as I'd had hoped. Otherwise a good fit for what my needs are.

Absolutely amazing! Sturdy and well made. A little paint in a few spots was missing but nothing that wouldn’t happen to them over time. They hold both my 50lb kayaks together very nicely. (Had an issue with over tightening the hand nuts but thankfully Vault Cargo was able to get back to me very quickly and put in a request for me to get 4 new ones. Overall these racks are amazing and would definitely recommend them to anyone especially for the price! ❤️❤️❤️

Great product! Just needs a couple different mounting brackets to mount to different roof racks. I made a couple spacers with rubber mat and wood wedges I cut out to acomidate for the different angles of roof rack. Besides that, it carried my 12’ kayak 200 miles at 80mph nothing ever came loose. I’m going to order another set for sons kayak now.
