Glued it into place with some stove cement. I don't ever recall replacing this in 30 years so the old gasket was squished hard as a rock. I put a bunch of weights on the griddle after I got it in place and it appears to have seated nicely. Almost seems a bit large but it is what VC calls for as far as size and the metal mesh.

Perfect replacement for the Defiant Encores griddle top. This metal reinforced gasket is unique for this stove. It provides a more durable gasket as the griddle top is opened to add wood to the firebox.

The gasket seems to be a perfect replacement for the original. Same wire mesh design, diameter, and quality. The price was excellent with free shipping and the gasket length fit my stove griddle with a few inches to spare!
