Most hotels will have USB power ports built in to the outlets in their rooms. I am always worried about zapping my phone or tablet in those power ports in the event that I forget to bring my charging blocks. I got this to test the voltage of USB power ports at the hotels I stay at. I will usually avoid the obviously damaged ports, but I'm always curious about the others.So far so good. I've tested my own ports on my laptop, desktop, power banks, and random other stuff I have around here. Some power strips I have tested showed just below 5V and most right around 5.12V.It's enough to give me a little peace of mind using those power ports while on the road or otherwise traveling abroad.

Simple to use and effective.The casing might be a bit large around the USB male connector and could be hard to plug in certain situations.Fortunately for me, I had a USB male to male cable to plug in to get into a tight space.

Very poor instructions - It does not come on without a plug connected to the output even if there is no load. There are two screens - the one than comes on first is NOT the one shown in the instruction sheet

This unit is ideal for checking USB devices while charging. Many devices give vague charging information, such as "charge for 8 hours", and fail to provide a light to indicate when charging is complete.This indicator shows the current drain while charging, and you can see it drop as the device charges. Monitoring the current tells you if something has gone wrong, such as a bad connector or one that has pulled loose. This unit tells you exactly what is going on and gives you the confidence that everything is ok. You can't get this information any other way.
