About this item

  • Bacharach replacement refrigerant sensor
  • Suitable for use with Bacharach Informant 2 dual-purpose leak detector (sold separately)
  • Used to maintain agency approval for refrigerant testing
  • Country of origin: United States

Leak detectors are used in mechanical, automotive, petrochemical, wastewater treatment, plumbing, electrical, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications to locate the source of a leaking gas or liquid. Simple leak detectors use dyes, pH- or chemically reactive indicators, or a foaming substance to find leaks in pipes, tubes, fittings, tanks, and cylinders. More complex leak detectors have electronic sensors that measure the concentration of leaked gas or liquid in an area to pinpoint the source of leaks, determine the type of gas present, monitor air quality, and detect electrical corona or failing valves, bearings, and solenoids.

Bacharach manufactures instruments for the measurement and detection of gases and liquids, including combustion analyzers, fixed gas monitors, and leak detectors for the HVAC industry. The company, founded in 1909, is headquartered in New Kensington, PA.

Zero stars for the seller.Failed within a month and a half of using. Seller must Have old stock. Even manufacture states that it will last up to 100 hours or a year. This is an expensive piece for just a little bit of time of use. I would not recommend the seller for this part. My original one that came with my leak detector lasted a year and a half. This one lasted a month and a half and seller is not wanting to do anything.

My reason for three stars is the reliability of these sensors. Also there is no alert if they go bad or even any kind of indication. For $60ish a pop it’s pricy but works well when it does work.

It's hard to believe this little sensor can be this expensive and sometimes hard to find. I'm glad Amazon had it I get about 1 year of use out these sensors. It depends how much exposure to freon it gets. But it's been a real good leak detector so hopefully they will keep making parts for it.
