Yarn ball winder, weaving ball winder for swifts with easy installation for yarn storage
How to use a ball winder?
1. clamp the ball winder onto table or other support with integrated clamp, clamp is controlled by turning the red knob.
2. set spindle into geared base by aligning notches. Hold the gear and turn the spindle clockwise to secure it.
3 Pull out the thread end and guide it through the thread guide.
4 Insert the thread end into the groove of the cone.
5. turn the handle to the right side. The thread begins to wrap around the cone.
6. turn the handle at a steady pace and not too fast so that the yarn does not get tangled.
7. when you are finished, pull the thread out of the cone.

Pick a different yarn winder! Would you like to cake yarn without having the yarn fly off/get snagged under the cake holder thing or the yarn guide wiggling and waggling all over the place? The max is about 1/3 of a ball of yarn before you’re winding over the edge and creating an unstable ball of yarn. The yarn guide NEVER stays in place. After caking a about 15 cakes (this is really 5 skeins because the cakes are not large at all), it doesn't wind properly. It does this odd cake that is like modern architecture. I am back to winding balls by hand. I forgot to return the first one when I said it was defective and now was charged for 2 and have two defective ball winders. :( WASTE OF MONEY!

The clamp fit on my table and it worked almost perfectly. There is a bit of a learning curve of how much tension you need when winding so that you dont get a bunch of yarn not wound properly but just keep an eye on it and unwind it slightly and start again. what I was looking for.

Would you like to cake more than ~30 yards without having the yarn fly off/get snagged under the cake holder thing or the yarn guide wiggling and waggling all over the place? And if you can make it past that, then comes the fact that your max is about 1/3 of a ball of yarn before you’re winding over the edge and creating an unstable ball of yarn, NO MATTER WHAT YOU TRY. Once you think you can take all that, prepare yourself for that yarn guid to need DIRECT supervision; I tried a coaster underneath, tape, even thought about superglue before I gave up and ordered a new one. Its cheap for a reason, besties, save your money.

It works as needed. if you go slowly while helping thread it should hold one big twist yarn. My only complaint is that the metal rod was not staying in place when i moved it to lock it in place. since it was not staying i just used a little hot glue to help it out lol. i enjoy using it. it does its job.

I couldn’t wait to get this and start using it. I wish now I would have spent the extra money and got a good one. It started off good on winding the yarn started slipping and getting sloppy.
