This Baofeng K68 tri-band handheld ham radio was ordered on 13 Apr 2025 and delivered on 17 Apr 2025 with no damage. This Baofeng radio is well made and is loaded with features. There is a learning curve to use all of them. Because of its wide range of frequencies it can receive and it's scanning ability , I am using it as my primary monitoring scanner. It can receive most of what I am interested in. The sound quality is OK, but not HiFi. It is however well worth your time to program and set-up. I have used it now for a couple of weeks and an well pleased with it.

The K68 is basically a K63 with a larger color screen and a slightly better battery. It claims tri-band transmit, but only does 2m, 1.25m, and 70cm just like the K63. You still get the usual wide receive range, including airband and NOAA. CHIRP support is solid, and programming is easy with the one-key copy function. The USBc charging is a plus, and the battery lasts a while. Don’t believe the 8W claims, but it’s closer to 5W, just like most Baofengs. It's not waterproof and not certified for gmrs, even though it'll transmit there if you force it. The antenna isn’t great for 220 MHz, but it does okay on 2m and 70cm. For the price, it's a solid entry-level handheld, but don’t expect miracles. The “long range” stuff is marketing... line of sight only.

I can't believe nowadays what you can get for such a small price. I'm a senior citizen and back in my day mostly everything like this we would have to get through radio shack and it cost a pretty penny. And I can't believe nowadays how much stuff like this does for such a fraction of the cost. I love it and I'm still learning on how to use all the functions there's really a lot but for the price you cannot beat it!! Plus they've been a good known name brand in this market for a while. Read The view reviews here online plus there are many other videos related to their products on YouTube to help make an informative decision. But for the price you cannot be it !!!!

You could not ask for more of a complete kit and a radio/scanner for the price. The battery life is excellent it’s pretty easy to use after you read the manual and check out the included set up DVD. Kit included way more then I was expecting for the price! I have had several baofang ham radios in the past that I would use as a scanner for a police. The big thing I was always concerned about and had happened to me several times was accidentally keeping up the radio on a police frequency. What caught my attention the most about this upgraded radio was the capability of blocking the broadcast capability when using this as a scanner. You can charge this on a homebase cradle or it has a USB charger as well. You can’t get a better value for your money then this kit right here. It’s unreal how much value for your money you’re getting

The BAOFENG K68 is a decent, introductory HT covering 3 bands (2m, 1.25m, and 70cm). It has a slightly different layout and form factor from their UV-5R, but this set comes with all the accessories needed to get started. Also, the blue backlight is a bit more eye appealing than the orange on their other units. The battery can charge using the included stand, or you can use a USB-C charger (so great if you are taking it on the go and need to charge in your car). The radio is easy to program using the included cable and CHIRP, and has a solid sound floor -119db. It is only 5W so doesn't have the range of other HTs, but what it lacks in transmitting power it makes up in battery life. We used this for a lower powered fox hunt, and after a day of constant hours of transmitting (on low power), it still had about a bar of power left. Re-charging it was very quick as well, after 2 hours it was fully charged. As for transmission, I'm able to hit the repeaters (flat, suburban area), about 2 miles away with no issues. The only limitation of this unit is the included antenna - while the radio works well (no spurious emissions) on all frequencies, the antenna is only resonant on 2m and 70cm. That being said, the gain on the antenna on those bands was pretty decent.Overall this is a great introductory HT to get on the bands (especially for those new technicians out there), and for $19.99 the value for this kit can't be beat.

Great radio for the price. Roughly the same price as most uv5r’s but definitely a higher end feel. Very nice and easy to use radio. Definitely recommend if you want a cheap handheld. Especially a triband.
