In Florida, we often lose power during the hurricanes, so I like to have an emergency radio on hand. My previous radio was very old and the antenna broke, so I needed a replacement. This one appeared nice than my old one because it was a bit larger and had a larger hand-crank, which should make it easier to turn if I needed to charge the battery through cranking. The main flashlight is OK, but not great. The solar panel flips up to a wider light, which is better at lighting up an area, but still not very strong (though it seemed better than the straight flashlight). You turn the device on by tapping the power button, but you can only turn the radio on or off by HOLDING the power button (which seems a bit unintuitive to me.) This also means you can't power down the unit without first a long hold to turn off the radio, and then a quick press to turn the unit off. Strange. Radio seems to work alright, though I haven't yet figured out how to set presets for a particular frequency. But I really like that it remembers my last volume setting between power cycles - a lot of cheap devices just use a default.

This unit works great right out of the box. I got it primarily for the hand crank, this also has a solar charge and electrical outlet, but seeing I'm living in Florida, that hand crank feels like a safety net for me. After having been through two separate seasons in Florida sometimes out of power for a week plus, I've been getting prepared, this is another extension of that process. This will also be great for camping outings or even everyday use. I great wonderful reception with no issues. It is relatively easy to figure out how it works, but there are written directions too. The bright yellow color for the design improves my ability to locate it--it stands visually out on the shelf. It is well constructed, it feels solid. The sound of the broadcast is excellent, which also makes it the radio of choice fro everyday use. I would highly recommend this versatile hand crank radio.

This is an OK radio if you live in or near a city with radio stations. The AM, FM, and SW reception is fair at best. The sound quality is OK. I had hopes for this radio since it is digital, but it's reception even with the included whip antenna extending is a bit lacking on all bands. It has some nice features, but they don't make up for the lack of capability. Case in point is the auto scanning feature. It is important to find stations this way, because the scroll feature is glacially slow. When auto scanning for FM stations, it saved 20 "stations" that were mostly static, not real stations before it got to 93.0. Then to scan further up the dial, you had to press scan and it would stop at various sources of static while scanning at a snail's pace. It was very frustrating. So, it has got a flashlight, hand crank charging, usb charging, nice built in battery, bluetooth, a weather radio etc. but modest reception and lousy scanning make it not worth the time. If you were to take the time to scan and scroll to preset all your channels, you could by pass this frustrating sequence when you needed the radio for an emergency. So, this is mainly an initial setup issue.Bottom line, its an OK radio, and the price is about average for this type of radio.

I have been really happy and excited about it. It has so many cool features that help me stay informed about the weather. The radio works on AM, FM, SW, and NOAA channels, and it even has an automatic NOAA weather alert that wakes me up if there is a storm at night. One of the best things about this radio is its 6-way charging options. I can charge it using a built-in rechargeable battery, an AC adapter, USB, a solar panel, a hand crank, or even AAA batteries. This means that no matter where I am—whether I am camping, hiking, or just at home—I always have power to keep it running. The large HD LCD display makes it easy to see the battery level and the current tuning frequency. I can quickly switch channels with the “Tune+” and “Tune-” buttons or use the scan function to find my favorite radio stations. The radio also has an awesome torch feature with three light modes that can be used as a flashlight or a reading lamp. The super loud alarm is perfect for emergencies because it can attract help from far away. There is even a Bluetooth speaker option so I can listen to music or weather updates without any hassle. Its portable size and water-resistant design make it ideal for outdoor adventures.
