Other than the plastic poker for breaking the foil, this is a nice caulk gun with adjustable stroke on the trigger. Works well with standard caulk tubes. Releases the plunger easily.

I am not a contractor so I don't need anything expensive for light home repairs. This caulking gun is perfect for the price. It has a red pin in the handle that can be used to pierce the caulking seal. After, I was able to easily get some exterior caulking inserted into the gun and applied it where brick meets some siding on my house. It made for an easy job!

The hand operated caulking gun by Bates Choice/BGGS is made in PRC (china). This is a basic caulking gun with a lot of plastic. The main idea is that this gun can offer 25:1 squeezing force, but I found this to be more like 10:1 and is slightly better than my 9:1 all metal caulking gun. This unit by Bates Choice offers a working caulk gun, a plastic needle to pierce the caulk tube ends with, and a stroke width adjustment knob. I think the $13 asking price would be fair if the unit actually had the high force in pushing the rod into the tube for those thick things like silicone. I would not order this again.3 stars

I had a big caulking project on my to-do list but my old caulking gun was one of the old 10:1 thrust ratio ones. This one makes all the difference. For thicker caulk, you still have to squeeze hard but not as hard as you do with those cheap $10 guns. It's made pretty sturdy too. The poker (I guess that's what you call it) isn't very long so it doesn't quite reach down to poke open the seal inside the tube of caulk. No biggie. I have a long piece of metal I use so that doesn't bother me. Hardly a problem to worry about. The gun itself is well made and really made a big difference for me this year. My hand doesn't hurt anymore.

I thought for the price of this caulk gun that it would be mediocre. But I was surprised that it is well constructed, comfortable, has an adjustable handle, and DOES NOT DRIP once you let the handle go. I’ve used this with both adhesive and caulking and it works very very well. Great value for the money. Easy to use. Definitely recommend!
