I use on Ultra Lithium AAs. Used cells of 1.6 or show better than they actually are. New cells (1.8+ volts) show correctly. Well worth it.

This is an excellent battery tester. Don't waste your time with the cheaper ones they do not work nearly as well. I'm a musician and I have several instruments that operate with batteries and I need to know reliably the condition of those batteries before I play. I trust this device to do that.

If your household is anything like mine, you've got a drawer full of various size (and type) batteries for the plethora of electronic devices we are inundated with.I find that I constantly have a multimeter on my kitchen counter to keep up with checking batteries, which is a bit obscene. This battery tester is nice way to get rid of the clutter of my multimeter while still being able to check batteries on a whim. The fact that it can test so many sizes of batteries is its greatest attraction. My only complaint would be the movable piece for testing the various battery sizes. The bar is spring loaded, but it is a very weak spring and I find myself pressing the bar against the battery to ensure I have good contact. (It actually changes the voltage reading when I do this!)Comparing it to the readings on my Fluke multimeter, this battery tester reads fairly accurate. I'm fairly satisfied and time will tell if the movable bar will last. In that regard, longevity is my biggest concern for this product.

Having a reliable battery tester like this significantly reduces waste and eliminates the uncertainty of determining whether a battery is still functional. I frequently find myself wondering if a single battery has malfunctioned or if the entire pack has gone bad when a device that utilizes multiple batteries stops working or displays low battery warning. This device swiftly answers that question! For instance, I recently replaced batteries in one of my Nest Protects because it indicated low battery levels. With this tester, I was able to ascertain that the batteries were still in good condition and could be reused, despite the smoke detector’s assessment. In just a few minutes, I tested a small collection of batteries I had lying around using this device. I managed to salvage over half of them after the test revealed many were still viable. The testing process is incredibly easy and quick. Additionally, I discovered that I could test various sizes of coin-shaped batteries that were larger than the indentations on this device, as long as I could align the side and bottom of the battery with the copper contacts on the tester. This method worked for all the different coin-shaped batteries I had.I appreciate that this tester provides precise voltage readings along with general classifications of weak, poor, or good batteries. This comprehensive data allows for more informed decisions regarding battery retention or disposal.Overall, the device appears well-crafted, although it is lightweight and doesn’t exude a professional feel. However, with proper handling, I don’t anticipate any durability issues.I am pleased with the product and glad I have it. However, the current price of $29.99 seems high when compared to similar items. Notably, this device does not even include the battery required for operation. I fail to understand the rationale behind the higher price when considering other very similar devices at lower prices. Therefore, I question the pricing strategy. My rating is not based on the price but rather on the product’s functionality, versatility, and ease of use.

This battery tester can test a large variety of batteries, I was able to find most of the battery types it is capable of testing around my house. I also found numerous devices that use batteries not testable with this device, cell phones, cameras, a digital readout tape measure, etc.I also happened to have some used batteries that were replaced when reduced range was noticed from keyless entry fobs for cars or the garage door opener. These batteries tested in the OK range with this tester. While there are no problems detecting very bad batteries, the range of successful operation varies with the design of the device using the batteries. Thus, while this tester may indicate that a battery is good, you may decide that you want your garage door opener to work over a longer range, or your flashlight to be brighter. You will not get a definitive response good/bad response from this tester that is valid in all cases.Batteries need to be loaded somewhat when testing because they supply less current as they age while the voltage doesn’t vary by a huge amount when unloaded. This tester is smart enough to put a bigger load on C and D cells than it does on AA to AAA cells. However, the variety of 3 Volt cells CR2016, CR2032, etc. are all loaded the same. The fact that there are so many choices of battery type in in the 3 Volt range indicates that there are a large variety of power requirements that cannot easily be evaluated with a common test. Finally, this tester seems to me to be somewhat costly. Do you really need a $29.99 tester to tell you to replace the batteries in your TV remote? Just try installing some new batteries and see if functionality is restored. Also, Amazon sells battery storage cases that not only can store all your batteries but also include a similar battery tester for less than the price of this product.
